Scale I Build

  1. This is the new Revell 427 Coupe. I really like the kit. It builds fairly easily. The decals are nice and I'd say it's very similar to the roadster kit. There are a few differences and things that I don't like though. I don't like how they did the pipes and I think the exhaust outlets look a little large for the car. I also had some fit issues I didn't have with the roadster. The hood is glued shut because of one of them The back corner would not stay down. It sucks because I did a really nice job on the engine bay. Still, the kit makes a nice looking model. 2. One of the first kits I ever got was this very kit. I used the wrong paint on it and ever since I have wanted to get another. I found one cheap not long ago and decided it was time to get another and build it the way I wanted. It's a good kit, but lacks a lot of decals. Still, it came out great! 3. I love Corvettes and when the new generation C7 came out in 2014 I liked but not a fan of the taillights. I decided to customize one to have the classic round C3 styling and went as far to change the rear window to the original "sail-panel" rear window. Lots of modifications including a completely new nose and grafted an L88 hood. Also filled in one of the three vents in the fenders, smoothed out the hip line and added rear wheel flares and grafted rear bumperettes like the C3's have. Some build pics show some of the major bodywork I did. Paint is Duplicolor Bahama Blue Metallic. Comparison to a "stock" C7
  4. Entry number 3 in my Corvette project, C3 Stingray. AMT kit went together very well, I was impressed by the details under the hood and the LT-1 small block. This kit also has some of the best Chevy Rallye wheels I've seen. Comments welcome, thanks for looking.
  5. Started with the newer release AMT kit. Not very impressive kit, low detail chassis and interior. Custom front airdam, custom taillights, arm and headrests on stock molded seats, Pegasus wheels and sleeves with PE Spinners give it an updated restomod look. Duplicolor Bright Red with several hand cut polished clear coats and BMF give it a nice overall finish.
  6. Here's my revell '69 stingray corvette with a 427 size engine. This is an older build of mine so it is not near the quality I would like, but I still take great pride in this as a part of me is invested. If anyone sees anything I could improve upon or do better please say something. I want to get better
  7. Got the new Yenko Corvette kit. I love it! The kit came out great.
  8. Hello, This is my latest build. Kit from Revell, Corvette Stingray 2014. It 's still in progress so far most of the cabin has done. It is waiting to satin varnish.
  9. This is the Revell kit with the C1 models True Fiber transkit. Added details like Accuair air suspension, flocked and CCW wheels. Engine has details like carbon kevlar engine cover but dont have a pic uploaded. Painted in Tamiya yellow with Testors one coat clear.
  10. A newer release from Revell, similar to the Vette racecar I reviewed. Low parts count and prepainted glass should make for a nice weekender build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpfWDc82oxI
  11. Quickie build last Fall. Yes, it's the SnapTite but looks nice in a case on the shelf. Testors Inca Gold with Tamyia Pearl Clear Pegasus Gold/Chrome Vantage wheels Spent some extra time to get the headlight glass flush, the kit has them recessed. Just need to trim them off the one-piece molded assembly and install from the top instead of the bottom.
  12. Hi All, Finishing a 1969 Stingray, I pulled the motor, wheels and some suspension parts from a Z06. In England now on business and hope to finish up early March. Regards, Nels
  13. Hi guys, I made this Corvette Stingray Sidecar concept out of two AMT kits, cutting apart the fender corners and bringing them back together. The tank, basic engine block and front tire are from an old (Entex?) Kawasaki street bike that I found in the parts box. The PE front disk and two other tires are orphan parts. The rest is scratch built. I turned aluminum wheels, gas cap, instrument pods and trim rings out of aluminum and turned some red toothbrush handle for the tail lights. The instrument faces are just reduced laser prints that were gotten from the VDO website. The front forks are telescoped brass tubing, while the exhausts were bent from solder. My fake display base is balsa wood painted with hardware store speckle paint with a styrene + laser print display panel. Paint is airbrushed Testors Yellow #1114 from the 1/4 oz. glass bottles. Thanks!
