Scale I Build

  1. Hi Guys just finished assembling my Tamiya Yamaha TMax Hope you guys like it.
  2. I started this kit about 30 years ago. Sat in the box painted metallic black or gray. Finished it finally. Not a motorcycle guy, but I think it looks kind a cool. Tamiya FZR750R OW01. Straight outta the box.
  3. Well, this one is a real challenge. I am going to super detail it like I have never done before on any other model. I have the Scale Motorsports CF decals, the Top Studio super-kit and the chain kit (yeah, build this chain one link at a time, about $40 too. I bought an already built chain for my mountain bike for $20). I also have the brass fork kit from Tamiya. I had the super-kit for a good few years, in fact I had it for three years before I bought the bike kit. I had bought it for another bike kit not realizing it wasn't the correct kit number to go with it. Then when I decided to finally build it I had to order the chain kit, I had thought it was part of the super-kit which it wasn't. I got it from Japan in 8 days. The fork kit was discontinued, but I found it on Amazon for $15 from some Japanese company that seems to sell just toys. That took almost 2 weeks. I also added Pro Tech braided oil line with hex AN fittings. So here are mostly engine pictures and a some frame shots.Box art" All the stuff going into the kit: Engine shots: The frame:
  4. Greetings,,wishing all is well for all of you,,having raced MX for many years,,20+ or so,,when I saw this on tamiyas website,,,,HAD TO HAVE IT! Never ridden one of these,,but its a 2 stroke screamer ,,probably tough to handle around any track,,but what fun it still would be to ride. Similar to the Suzuki TM Cyclone 400 bikes of the day. {approx 1972-1975 era} No changes to the stock kit or mods,,just beautiful Tamiya engineering,,made the kit easy to build.,,and they supplied all the cables ,,metal axles+nuts. Both front + rear suspension work via kit supplied springs+ hardware. The kit sat on my shelfs unbuilt for 2 years,,so had to "get 'er done" ,,I would recommend this kit for anybody who enjoys bikes of this type from the day,,thanks for looking,,and keep the rubber side down. S
  5. I got it for a good deal at a show and started working on it. I was surprised at how much I liked doing it vs 1/24 and 1/25 cars, I think the larger pieces had something to do with it, or it was just a change of pace for me Didn't really know how to 'mod' too much on a bike as Im not all to familiar with them. I see soooooo much room for improvement, but I guess compared to the amount of completed cars vs ones started over my 'career' in models, starting a bike and getting it finished was kind of big for me
  6. Sorry, I've been away from the hobby for a few years taking care of some personal stuff. Don't you hate when life gets in the way of the hobby? Anyway, I decided to jump back in with a three bike display of Ben Spies' milestones for Yamaha. His first MotoGP race on one, his first podium and his first victory. I also wanted to do some detail work but only what will be seen with the bodywork in place. This build has been going on for a few months now so bare with me as I insert the updates. It will kind of look like I'm some kind of speed demon but a lot is complete. So, to get started... Here is a selection of aftermarket parts and two of the three kits to be used. Each bike will have a different muffler with different heat traces I also had to kitbash one set of wheels to get the 2011 bike correct. I drew up the pattern in AutoCAD then transfered the image to ABS plastic with thinner on the copy paper. After that it was all cutting, grinding, gluing and putty work. More pictures tomorrow. Lunch break here is over.
