Scale I Build

Found 5 results

  1. Finally completed the Corvette C6R-ZR1, #73 car, as raced at the 2012 LeMans. The model is in 1/25 scale and uses a Revell ZR1 body as the base, that was mastered by Jay Savarese; The C6R kit by Scale Motorsports donated the chassis, interior, and engine and photoetch parts; a Revell ZR1 kit donated the front and rear 'glass', the headlight and driving light lens covers and a C7R kit donated the outside rear view mirrors and the rear deck wing and struts. The main 'Jake' livery decals were from Pattos Place and other various decals were used. More detailed build info can be found in the 'WIP' section of the forum. Appreciate any and all comments!
  2. Will try to replicate, in 1/25 scale, the Corvette C6R as raced at Le Mans in 2012(#73 Car). There are many changes to this version of the car --it's based on the ZR1 version, rocker panels /exhaust ports were changed, side mirrors were redesigned, the rear wing was placed higher up on the car and the fenders were widened. A unique 'American Flag' decal was added to the rear quarter fender as shown in the pictures below.

    '39 ZR1

Built this so long ago, that all I have was prints of film photographs. ? Since I made a studio to take pictures for the Desert Scale Classic COVID Special contest, put this in the set and took some digital pictures. The first model car contest I entered, had kits for the entrant's package. There was a choice of some hot rod, or the Monogram Corvette ZR1, so that's what I got. Bought a Monogram 1939 Chevrolet sedan delivery, Dr. Feelgoods. Then I spent way over 300 hours to come up with this. Got a few awards with it, one was invented just for me, Paintjob Most Likely To Cause Global Warming. Opened all the doors (with spring latch pins), tilt hood, license plate swings down to serve as a step, moonroof opens, and retractible antennae. Chassis was adapted for the Corvette running gear. Painted with nail 'polish', wet lace technique used in the panel area. Detail Master was a new aftermarket company, used parts for the radiator hose and speaker screens, otherwise everything else is scratch-built. Over time, the plastic used for the glass has become tinted, which is a cool benefit. This is still my best street rod model, and don't plan to build any more (will be posting pictures of the only other one I built). Thanks for looking. ?
  4. Decided to merge a bit of my favorite JDM tuning influences with a rock-star of a US sportscar. The original HOtwheels version was nice enough but had some glaring issues such as the big/little wheels sizes. Putting a smaller wheel on the rear meant there was a wider wheel gap and a slumped down rear end. This is the first time I work with modelling putty. Work done: Lowered. Wheel well filled in. Widebody conversion. Custom front splitter. Rocketbunny style rear spoiler. Side mirrors. Wheels cut and reassembled further out to sit flush with wider track. IMG_3597.xmp
  5. My take on the 93 Corvette black widow. This will be "inspired" by the 40th anniversary car since I do not want to spend the money on getting the proper GM maroon color, I painted it with Testors Mythical Maroon and did the interior in Tamiya maroon interior. I have a Model Car Garage Photo-etch set for the 40th anniversary badges. This was started back in February 2015 and I was doing pretty good progress on it until I had to disassemble my work space for some basement work (which is still not done!) I'm hoping I can get back to it in December. I still need to hit the interior with some dull coat and I might try and find some maroon flocking for the carpet area. I really wish I had decals for the engine though! Hand painted, I might try to clean up the red some more. Boring frame shot :-) Thanks and any comments are welcomed :-)
