I really like that T1 in the first post, but the yellow beetle... I probably wouldn't be able to squeeze myself in there ?, or if I could, I probably can't get out without some help from someone with a grinder...

Don't understand why they don't chop down the quarters and maybe the fenders if they're going through the effort to butcher a sedan that much. At least shortening the quarters and bringing the bumper closer to the rear wheels and maybe shortening the front fenders and bumper in the case of the '57.

Tri-Fives are dime-a-dozen anyways, so why not?

Those both look like they were made out of 4-doors. I like 4-doors, myself, but they are largely shunned and unwanted by rot rodders & restorers for the most part.

My father once worked at a place in Belfast, Maine. It was called the Bug Shop, and it was all Volkswagens. For a mobile billboard, they shortened a VW Bus, painted the shop logo on it, and put a Porsche engine in it.

He said they drove it once and it was terrifying. They then parked it out front of the shop and it never drove again as far as he knew.

After the first shop burned down, my dad went to work somewhere else and he doesn't know what fate befell the Bus. It'd be cool to see now.

The shorty tri fives are usually 4 doors with the doors combined to make them work with the body line changes ( front edge of the front door added to the rear door, back edge of the rear door added to the front door) depending on which doors are good.

Who's gonna do this one ? :lol:fourlinks_Busrod_700_zps3l9to9hi.jpg

I think I will take a shot at it. Got a Hasegawa VW type 2 pick up and a Lil Coffin to use as the frame. Something about this appeals to me but then I always likes different.

We had a 1972 "regular size" VW bus when I started driving. I used to literally have nightmares of it tipping over ridiculously easy, dreams of it tipping over from a light breeze while stopped at a light. Driving that thing would scare the heck out of me as an experienced driver.
