I've been trying to post this model for several days, and the post always disappears. If this works, I'll add details later.

Here's my old Jo-Han 62 Dodge Dart made into a base 2 door sedan pro street-type car.

OK, it looks like it finally worked! Many thanks to forum member Casey for his help!

Here's a 62 Dart I originally built in the 1980's. The kit was of a Dart 440 hardtop, but for the rebuild, I converted it into a cheapie base Dart 2-door sedan by sanding off some chrome trim and emblems, then making side window frames and door posts from plastic strips. Engine is a Mopar 413 (I think) from an old AMT 49 Merc kit. Parts box wheels and tires with dog dishes from the Little Red Wagon kit. Roll bar and seat belts/harness inside. I was going for a grandpa's car pro street-type look. Less than perfect, but it was fun to build! Comments welcome!

Edit: Oops, I just noticed a hunk of dirt laying on the cowl, and on the driver's door.

BTW, What's the deal with the kit dashboard? It's definitely not a 62 Dart unit, but it came with the kit.

That is sweet. We BADLY need these old Johans, or new tools of them.

Cool model, love the diorama as well. Me and half my high school class learned to drive in one almost exactly like this thanks to it's owner, push-button auto with a slant 6. Thanks for the memories!

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I originally built this Dart kit to mimic a real Dart I owned in 1984-1986. I found it sitting in a back yard, and bought it for $200. I did some work on it and had it repainted in its original grey color. The front bumper was bent badly, and I couldn't find one for it then. When reverse went out on the push-button auto tranny, I sold it. Here's a pic of me with it in about 1984.

Very nice! Gotta love a base model car like this with a powerful engine and steel wheels with Dog Dishes! Tires look just perfect on there as well, they're just tall enough. Nice work overall with the conversion!

Love it. I had a '62 413, bought really really cheap in about '77. Daily driver, black / red interior. Borrowed a VW camper from a friend for a vacation trip, loaned him the 413 while I was gone. He was a moron, drove it into the back of something at around 40mph. Killed the car...not worth fixing back then. Who knew. Wish I had it today.

Probably one of the most confounding mainstream style choices of the 60's. To me a real head scratcher. Your model looks great though, totally my idea of a sleeper.
