howsthat1959
Just received the Mack DM600 kit and, unless I'm missing something, the engine does not seem to have an air compressor. How would the air compressor be mounted on the kit engine (as well as an A/C compressor?) Thanks
guitarsam326
I know on the newer macks the compressor is on the right side of the engine.
Guest
As far as I know, part #290, right side of engine block, is the air compressor. If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll be corrected. Not sure about the A/C, however keep in mind the DM had a roof mounted unit, it was not integral with the heater if that makes a difference Edited April 24, 2015 by Modeltruckbuilder

Looking closely the air compressor is part of #290. I assumed it would be on the belt assembly somewhere.
guitarsam326
Just a little class 8 diesel info, most truck compressors are gear driven off the timing gear set or the rear or the crank/flywheel.
Mackvision
Here is the location of the air compressor on the ENDT 675 Mack gear driven early style...............................Mark
Guest
The engine in the DM 600 is an ENDT 673 225HP, the engine in AMT R 600 is an ENDT 675 237 HP, it's not the same motor. BTW, your "arrows" are not pointing to the air compressor, the air compressor is lower and towards the rear of the block just above the oil pan Edited April 25, 2015 by Modeltruckbuilder
mistermodel
I'm trying to find out when mack stopped painting econodyne engines green and went to grey. A early dm could be green but have yet to confirm.the box art is mislabelled calling the engine a maxidyne.maxidyne's are gold...well the ones that are available in models any ways Edited April 25, 2015 by mistermodel
mistermodel
an ac pump would be belt driven just like most every engine
