Jon Cole Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Does anyone have experience using Tamiya X-21 Clear Flat Base? I want to brush a dullcoat to some small chrome parts. I seem to recall it looks like a chalky mess if used straight out of the jar.
Brett Barrow Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 You mix flat base into gloss paints to flatten them, it's not intended to use by itself. Tamiya now makes a ready-made flat clear, XF-86.
Dragline Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 In proper doses it's great to turn gloss into semi and so forth. I use it in Future as well with excellent results. You just need to play with it till you find the balance.
Jon Cole Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 I ended up mixing the Flat Base to their Clear at a 1 part flat to 5 parts clear. Seems to work fine. Thank you all for helping.
