Tamiya X-21 Clear Flat Base

Does anyone have experience using Tamiya X-21 Clear Flat Base? I want to brush a dullcoat to some small chrome parts. I seem to recall it looks like a chalky mess if used straight out of the jar.

You mix flat base into gloss paints to flatten them, it's not intended to use by itself. Tamiya now makes a ready-made flat clear, XF-86.

In proper doses it's great to turn gloss into semi and so forth. I use it in Future as well with excellent results. You just need to play with it till you find the balance.

I ended up mixing the Flat Base to their Clear at a 1 part flat to 5 parts clear. Seems to work fine.
