weirich1 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) Can the '02 re-issue of the AMT Pete wrecker be converted into a dump truck using AMT's dump gravel trailer? The dump gravel trailer calls for the Mack DM-600/-800 or IH tractor but I was wondering if the Pete would work. If so has anyone done it? Tim? I've got both in the cabinet, thought it would be fun to build a dump truck. I'll add the heavy duty bumper from the Revell Germany Alaskan Hauler, may use the dump trailer wheels, throw in an extra axle. I'd appreciate some input. Edited March 1, 2008 by weirich1
mackinac359 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 This would be a splendid project. The rear of the 359's frame would need to be squared instead of the tractor taper. The dump box cut to whatever length needed. You could even use some of the dump trailers axles create a tag axle. Tim
weirich1 Posted March 1, 2008 Author Posted March 1, 2008 Tim, thanks for the words of encouragement. I just measured the wrecker body and the dump box, both are 6-5/8" long, looks like the conversion should be fairly easy. This one might hit the bench next week.
Semi Trailer Mechanic Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 What's goin' on... Here's a project where I used the Fruehauf dump body on a Ford LouEville. One of these years I'll finish it up!
