Question About A Model Kit Reissue

i recently picked this up recently and wondered other than the fact that it is molded in grey and does not have the 'smoked' glass for the windshield or headlight covers is it the same kit as the MPC issue from the 80s? I used to have the original one when i was a kid and loved it i was not a good body painter then so the fact that it was molded in red made it easy for me i loved the kit and glad they reissued it. the last reissue of a MPC kit of a 80s show that was not as good as the original was the KITT which did not have the 82-84 front fender scoops in front of the door and i had to remove the bird logo off of the C pillar and the TURBO trans am lettering on the front fenders etc.

All depends on what you want to accomplish. One thing you might look at is the Kits/Replicas section on eBay Motors, since the TV car was a fiberglass kit version of the McLaren, and these show up there with frequency there. You could do it any way you want, though the original McLaren race car was the basis for the 1:1 kit car. If you want to build a model of the original, just search Google images.
