blower and hat color.

I am getting ready to use a resin 1471 blower with a modern hat. I know most of you guys cover the hat in carbon fiber. I stink at decaling, so, what color do I paint the blower casing and the hat. like they say on Jeopardy, be specific. I was going to do flat black on the hat and metalizer magnesium on the casing.... am I close?

Hi Al,  I think the metalizer paints can look pretty good, they can be mixed with other metalizer paints too.  Personally though, I hate flat black paint.  Nothing is that darned black, my opinion.  On models it looks especially bad and fake up close.

What color is the block?  Maybe mix up a metal color and it might look good when polished out.

I sometimes spray Testors Dull-Cote on the chrome plated blowers and hats to give it that aluminum look, as these parts in 1:1 scale cannot be chrome plated. They are sometimes highly polished which give them the appearance of being chrome plated.
