Greg Myers Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Funny Monogram has released so many Deuce kits in different scales through the years.
HotRodaSaurus Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I have a built up(read falling apart), it may be for sale a very cool model I think.
PeeBee Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I don't know if this is true, but from what I've read over the past hundred years or so the earlier kits (cars, airplanes, etc.) were "box scale." Apparently the kit manufacturers scaled the kits to fit into the boxes that they were purchasing at the time. Of course, this may be pure BS, and there's a bunch of guys on this forum way more knowledgeable than I who may be able to de-bunk, or elaborate, on this. I remember building the Deuce "Drag Strip Hot Rod" in my Aunt's attic over a Thanksgiving weekend many moons ago. And, I remember that the kit came molded in maroon plastic. PB.
HotRodaSaurus Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Paul, it was an SSP a few years back and it also came in maroon plastic. I think that the SSP idea was to produce these as then, or as near as they could. Some of the box sizes were way off but the Drag Strip Hot Rod was maybe the nearest to original size. The Futura came in a long box but longer than original, then re-popped a few years later in a flimsy standard Revell/Mono sized box but with distorted graphics.J

High octane Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Yeah, I remember 2¢ for a bottle. You needed to collect a lot of bottles to buy a $1.98 model! We also took old newspapers to the "junk yard" for money as well.
