So I got the Revell 06 Viper SRT10 a couple weeks ago to fiddle around with while I work on my USS San Francisco kit. I had a beautiful primered body, and the first coat or two went on nicely, lightly sanded that down, and put a heavier coat on, and it came out absolutely gorgous. But then... for some stupid reason I decided to tamper with success. I shot another coat on, and it didn't come out well. I got greedy and now I'm not as nearly happy with it. Man, why do I do such things? Anyone else end up doing dumb things like this?

a friend of mine, a professional metal man and painter, has the following sign over the door to his spray booth:

"MORE ON???"

because things often go the way they did for you when you think "just one more final coat"...

it reminds him t try to not be a "moron"!

Don't get me started. Painting cars or models was invented by Murphy's branch of hell. After making futile attempts at both for a quarter century now I tend to think I've had it all. Until the next project...

I'm always glad to hear of others going through the same ordeal - not because I'm schadenfroh, but it comforts me to know that I'm not alone. One always seems to live under the impression that 'this never happens to the others'.
