I will prime with Tamiya primer if I've worked a part alot, but otherwise I'll just shoot it on bare plastic.

So, no. It doesn't really need a base.

What's goin' on...

I've always just cleaned the plastic (part) and shot the metallizer on w/ no basecoat. In the past I've heard that gloss black will bring out a more refined shine when using the Alclad that's why I ask. Didn't know if that would work or not.

i know when i use spaz and alcad on lexan a black backing makes a perfect mirror,

i also backed it up with different colors to achive tinted mirror/chrome like flames fading yellow to orange to red.

i havent tried on plastic yet to know if it works the same.
