RT6PK Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Going through some stuff and I found these old cans. I remember using this actual can of blue to build my first JoHan '69 Roadrunner when I was about 12, (1982ish ?). Remember when Testors only had about 15 spray colors?
High octane Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yes I remember those as well as the Pactra paints, and also the AMT lacquer paints too. Here is a car painted with the AMT lacquers back in the early 70's.................................
Harry Joy Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) The way they are cutting back their paint lines, Testor's might be back down to fifteen again very soon. Edited December 4, 2015 by Harry Joy
Longbox55 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I found an NOS can of Jade Green in that style can at a Benjamin Franklin store in Covington Indiana back in the mid '90s. Still have it, unopened.
Greg K Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 cool old paint cans. i do remember them, but the "pla" word i didn't know what the hell that meant lol
THarrison351 Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I think it was short for plastic. Meaning safe for polystyrene.

I'm pretty sure I've got a whole box full of these old cans around somewhere. The paint was barely usable when it was fresh, I'll bet it's some wonderful stuff now! Steve
1930fordpickup Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 (edited) I like the old cans. I have a few but no cool Roth Cans. The sideways can is for the picture as it would not fit. Some old Glue tubes also. Edited December 4, 2015 by 1930fordpickup 2
Jon Haigwood Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 I remember them well. Even remember buying some Candy Colors in them.
Harry P. Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 Interesting that they held 3.2 ounces. Today the cans are listed as 3 ounces. How did they decide on an odd amount like 3.2?
Ridge Rider Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I like that picture Andy, thanks for sharing. It's kind of funny to see even then they had no use for an E- it's just 'namel

Bugatti Fan Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 I can remember using the AMT colours way back when. Funnily enough I still have some Testors Metallics after all these years in the little glass containers.
SCRWDRVR Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Oh yeah I remember them, I remember have some named as "transparent" which was basically a candy type of paint that you had to use silver or something for base coat.
peteski Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 While not *THAT* old, here are couple that are around 35 years old.
styromaniac Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 If I could catch a whiff of that old AMT spray lacquer, I bet it would immediately trigger some long lost childhood memories. I remember liking them cuz being hotter they laid down better than the Testors rattlecan enamels. They had interesting colors too....I remember my bro' painting his Revell 57 Chevy "Aztec Gold"...and his Revell Roth Road Agent "Orchid Silk".
SCRWDRVR Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 (edited) Here is what I still have sitting on the shelf, I have a few more cans but no other style labels... 1 pretty new can and then a scatter from 80’s and 90’s I think for the rest Edited June 1, 2020 by SCRWDRVR
Bucky Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 One interesting thing I've noticed is these old cans are not leaking out the bottom. 1
Deuces ll Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 All I have is a bunch of 20 year old Dupli color cans....

TonyW Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 I've got a few old cans. I use them as photo props... 2
thatz4u Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 I miss the old Duplicolor touch up spray cans too, would like to find some for restoration projects..
slusher Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 I have several Boyd colors and 1.can of nascar color and I plan on using them. They are from the early 90’s...
Casey Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 Just stumbled upon this vintage AMT Kandy Kolor by Barris flyer:
