junkyardjeff Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 If I remember correctly Edsel died in 43 or 44 so the second headlight and grille had to been done between 40 and his death or after it was sold.
Randy D Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 This is different for sure !!! Look forward to your build on this one Art. Randy

Eric Macleod Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I'm impressed. I've had the privilege of seeing the 1:1 car in person and would certainly say that it is a most worthy topic. I'll be following this with interest. I'm especially interested in how you approach the grill construction. Keep us posted.
Art Laski Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 I've got my pop corn Art!Thanks for looking, Bruce! If I remember correctly Edsel died in 43 or 44 so the second headlight and grille had to been done between 40 and his death or after it was sold.Pretty sure it was before he died, if I remember correctly. It's been a while since I read up on it.

I've had the privilege of seeing the 1:1 car in person and would certainly say that it is a most worthy topic. I'll be following this with interest. I'm especially interested in how you approach the grill construction. Keep us posted. Glad to have you follow along Eric. The grill is going to be a big challenge. I had hoped to make it look better than what the kit had, but we'll see...
Art Laski Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 I got the bottom grill opened up, then promptly broke the bottom trying to clean it up. I got it repaired with super glue and a super glue and talc powder mix filler, and it's actually better than new.

Art Laski Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Very nice Art Isn't resin fun? Lookin' forward to seeing you at the NNL West in March, ya gonna do a "Teresi" and have this finished by then? That was the idea, Curt, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time. Looking forward to seeing you as well! -Art
Art Laski Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 Art.....nice fix brother Thanks, Buddy. How are you progressing with this one?I'm looking forward to seeing some updates. Thanks, Eric. I took a break to get some other builds ready for a couple shows coming up, but I just received the decal rivets I ordered from Micromark today, so if I get some extra time, I'll be back at this one.
Art Laski Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) Travelling with my buddy, John Teresi, to the NNL West last weekend, we got to talking about the lights he is adding to his Iron Lung build http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/110665-eric-goodrichs-iron-lung-on-the-workbench-2816/. He thought it might work well on this build too, so after thinking about it a little, I agreed. It might make for some cool photo ops when all is said and done. So I called up Randy at voodoofx.com and he guided me through what I would need to make it happen. I got the kit yesterday, and I'm excited to add this to the build. The only problem is that the car is actually much smaller than I had in my mind, so even though this is curbside, there's still not a lot of room inside for the battery and circuit board. I realized, that I would need to cut open the hood to use that area as the battery area. I got that done last night. I still need to get creative to get the circuit board in there. Here’s the light kit: Edited March 17, 2016 by Art Laski
Mike Chernecki Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) Very interesting, cool looking car. Have you thought about putting the batteries in a display base and running the power through a contact point (brass exhaust pipe, metal suspension piece or something). Edited March 17, 2016 by Mike Chernecki
Art Laski Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Mike, that is an option, but I'm really trying to avoid that. I'd like it be standalone, if at all possible. I think I have a solution- standby...Thanks for looking!
Nytrozilla Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I did some lighting on a long lost starship using Voodoo FX. Good stuff. You'll be happy when you throw the switch. Nice subject too Art.
Art Laski Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Since the battery fills up the entire engine bay, I'm going to place the circuit board under the car in place of the engine. So I ground out the engine so it had a place to rest. It's going to work great.
Nytrozilla Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 A little genius, a little luck. I love it when a plan comes together.
