TomZ Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I ruined the "22" number decal that goes on the radiator of my Lindberg Stutz racer. I thought I would simply print an outline on white decal paper and cut it out. But then I realized that my chances of making acceptable cuts on the curved portions of the "2" is about zero. Does anyone have a technique for cutting out curves like that? Thanks!
Cato Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Get some .020 sheet styrene. Make a photocopy of your number and transfer to styrene. Then cut out by hand with sharp scissors or Exacto. Use the styrene as a template for your decal paper and do the same. It will take several tries to get it right.Otherwise, search online for press-on ready made letter / number sheets.
Lizard Racing Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 If the number goes on the radiator, photocopy your number onto regular paper and cut out the numerals to make a stencil.Tape the stencil in position and use the dry-brush technique to paint the numbers. Thus, the paint will only be on the top fins of the radiator. Just like they did in the day.
