crazyjim Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I've been diagnosed with 80% blockage in my femoral artery. I go in Friday morning and they're going to stick some kind of tube in to my right thigh, go up, around, and down my left leg to clear the blockage. That's the plan and supposed to be home late Friday afternoon. I'm scared.

Good luck to you.
Snake45 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I think that kinda thing's pretty routine these days. When my Dad had his heart attack back in the '90s, they put in a stent (maybe two) by going up through his leg and he was in the hospital for several days. Last year they had to put another stent in and they did it on an out-patient basis and sent him right home. You'll be fine, but if you want me to say Good Luck anyway, there it is.

My brother had that procedure done not too long ago. His was out patient surgery as well. I think he was in and out in like 4 hrs. I was totally surprised he was up and around in less than 24 hrs. He was alittle tender for afew days, but he was fine. Its natural to be alittle scared of it, but like Richard said, its considered a routine surgery now. You'll be fine.
Ramfins59 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Good luck Jim... I'm sure you'll come through it just fine.
vintagedragcrazy Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Good luck Jim I hope all goes well for you it's amazing the things they can do to help nowdays that was a big thing years ago and one thing these Drs do so many of these things that it comes pretty easy for them. Good luck and take carevince
wayne swayze Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Like the others have said Jim, it's a BIG deal to us, but just routine for doctors. I had open heart surgery on a Monday, and was home doing my laundry in a week! But best of luck anyway! And take care of yourself!
Belugawrx Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Good luck Jim, check in, when you get out, and let us know how it went,...
crazyjim Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Thank you for the words of encouragement everyone. Pretty routine procedure nowadays, but I don't like needles and I don't like people playing around with my arteries.
Crazy Ed Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Jim my Blood Pressure goes up just visiting my Doctor. I know where you're comin' from. But it'll go fine n you'll be back on the Forum Friday Evening letting us know how it went. But Prayers goin' with ya.
Lunajammer Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 We need you here Jim. Get that foolishness put right and come back all better.
Harry P. Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 It's perfectly understandable to be scared... but look at it this way... if you're in and out in the same day, it can't be all that complicated a procedure. You'll be fine.
crazyjim Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Thanks guys. My plan is to back here Friday afternoon.
Dave Ambrose Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Good luck Jim. You should feel much better having had the procedure. As many times as I've had surgery, it's always scary. Just let them know you're feeling nervous, and they'll help you with that.
slusher Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Jim, it's human to be scared but I will say a prayer for you. They may give you something to relax..

Petetrucker07 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Good luck Jim. I'd be feeling the way as you. I get nervous just going on for a physical. I understand your feelings. You'll be fine, and back doing the fun things in no time.
