mchook Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Hi, I started this a while ago. The cab was an ebay buy but it was bad so I cut the back off & made it a crew cab. The cab has been sitting around for years & I finally figured I'd do some work to it. I stretched the frame & built the body from scratch. I have more pictures but I can't load them, something about the size of the picture or something. I'm not a computer person at all. This & ebay is about all I can handle. Anyway I'll get some more pics as I go & hopefully I'll be able to load them.
gatorincebu Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I like the crew cab, it looks like you did a good job on that. Your scratchbuilt wrecker is really nice. As far as computer skills. You are not alone in that department ! lol Be Well Gator
mikemodeler Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Coming along nicely, should be a showpiece when you are done!
Againmikewins Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Off to a great start, I'd say. What kit did this cab come from or is it a scratch build extension that you made?
The Danish sprue wrangler Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 this looks really good . nice work
dshue76 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Looks really good. The cab looks to be done perfectly and the bed looks great so far and fits the age well. In my opinion those are the best looking crew cabs ever built.
MGL Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 That Holmes wrecker bed looks really good, but I'm not in love with the hubcaps. I don't think they would work with the heavy duty wheel on these trucks. Either way, nice progress and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
kilrathy10 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 This is a great project, Man....Looks awesome......I'm loving the tow body.....Great job on that cab, too.....Very nice.....
mchook Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 It's been a while but I've started working on my wrecker again. I had a problem with it being an automatic so I built a 4 speed with with a power take off, it just makes more sense.
gatorincebu Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Nice work on the tranny change. Be Well Gator
Davewilly Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 very cool! nice to see it being made into a real work truck!
mchook Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 My computer crapped out so I just got a different one. I did some work on the cab again, I fixed the windshield & added the driprail. I did some more work on the engine too. I'll get more pics soon. Thanks for looking!
mchook Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 I got the engine about done with some wiring. The chassis is almost done too, I need to add some front brake lines and finish the pto for the winch.
mchook Posted October 22, 2016 Author Posted October 22, 2016 (edited) I got some paint on it finally. I have to give the roof a redo, I came out bad. I think I'm going give it a white roof this time. Edited October 22, 2016 by mchook
Flynlo Posted October 22, 2016 Posted October 22, 2016 Looking great! Nice choice of colors, it would fit right in with the pair I posted elsewhere in this forum.
