Lovefordgalaxie Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Well, many of my models lack mirrors. Not many kits have them. Solved that problem casting my own!! Now all my Ford car builds will have mirrors. Casting a Mirror by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Casting a Mirror by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr Casting a Mirror by Túlio Lazzaroni, on Flickr
CometMan Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Very nice work Tulio! Those mirrors will add a very nice touch to your already exquisite work! Now, think about what you named this thread, do you seriously think that is possible?
oldcarfan Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 That is really nice! Are they pressure cast or spin cast?
Lovefordgalaxie Posted July 2, 2016 Author Posted July 2, 2016 No pressure cast, or spin cast. Just pouring the resin in the mold. After pouring the resin, I just do a little squeeze on the mold, so the air can get out.
Mike 1017 Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Nice work Tulio. Do you have a tutorial on You Tube ?Mike
carrucha Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Nice solution. The lack of door mirrors on some kits can be frustrating.

Dragline Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Harry can't complain? You talkin bout OUR Harry? Harry doesn't complain. He observes and reports.
Harry P. Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Harry doesn't complain. He observes and reports. Exactly.
Snake45 Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Maybe you should sell 12-packs of these things to us.I could stick them on with white glue for photography, so Harry can relax when he sees my pics and find something else to complain about, and then when they fall off/break off, I'll just stick on another one.Seriously, I'd love someone to make white-metal mirrors with a built-in mounting rod that would go in a drilled hole. Now THAT arrangement might be durable enough for me to worry about putting them on.

Simply drill a hole in the mirror stem and glue in a piece of brass rod. 0.010" rod is a good size (for 1:24 or 1:43 cars). I always pin the side mirrors to my models. I pin most of the small parts which are designed to be glued to the surface.

Which is probably of why I'm in the habit of not putting them on unless they're integral to the design.
charlie8575 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I'd be willing to buy a few of those mirrors if you decide to put them up for sale.Charlie Larkin
