Happy summer !,,,hope its all good for ya'll.   Been a busy season so far,,but I still have a bit of 'construction" time.  I was working on this kit  over the past month or so,and went out on web to look at some other builds of this,,its been out on market for a year or more,,but couldnt find very many "built" post about it.  So,,got it done,,and thought "why not post it".  I built a  GP version of  it kindof,,I like chrome as much as anyone, but  I wanted a  different style version of this iconic machine. So I took style cues from various race bikes I saw on the web,,and heres what I came up with. Thanks for looking,,and all the best to ya!    S.     Visit :  GT 40 | Flickr 006_zpstzilj9m6.jpg009_zpsfjamxzeh.jpg010_zpsweipj6zf.jpg013_zpsr53yedxu.jpg016_zpswmg9tjki.jpg017_zps3biczkuk.jpg

Neat see one built. I'm slowly working on one presently too.

Yea,,I havent seen too many post about a final build of this one,,Im surprised ,,,its a great kit,,the front rotor+caliper assembly is tricky, though ,I had to install rotor to forks first,, up and in the caliper assembly,,and then insert front wheel,,and the stock kit gauges/speedo/tach  were clear  w/markings molded into,,looked ok,,but I replaced w/decal gauges from leftover decals bx from older kits. I left off the rear footpegs,,they mounted to the exsaust   at rear,,didnt look all that great,,I may modify the rear footpegs+mount to frame  as if they were folded up in the non-use position. Also added the cross bar support to handlebars,,gives it a  Scrambler/GP look,,IMO. Look forward to seeing yours when you get it done!  Thanks  for looking.

Interesting that you Scott, found this kit to be "a great kit." I'm not impressed with this kit at all. It seems to be fiddley. Minor things take a more than little work to make fit right. Nothing horribly bad. But nothing great either. With a little time and a lot of patience I expect that mine will turn out okay.

yea I hear ya about the x-tra work to make things fit right,,I did have to use flat  jewlers files to flatten mating surfaces on many pcs  and had to jump around on assy steps  to get mtr in,,back wheel  w/chain   and brake assy.,,,,but  I really like the large scale bike kits, and they dont re-pop many of them.,guess thats why  I  consider  it  a  "great"   kit.  maybe not so much the actual mfg part of it.    With that  said,,one of my next large bike kits to hit the workbench  is the   1/6th  TAMIYA   Yamaha  250 YZ  MX'r,,,now that  should be a whole different animal as far as  fit   and assembly I would think.  Good luck on yours!

From the above perspective I would have to agree. I'm very excited that Round 2 has chosen to repop this kit, and the Honda Trail 70. And just this last week they announced that they will be reissuing the Rupp Roadster mini bike!

Between the Honda Trail 70 and the 750. I found the Trail 70 a much easier build. It is a smaller bike/kit, so I guess that makes some sense. But, the Trail 70 kit just seemed a little bit better engineered to me. Again, that's not saying MPC's Honda 750 is a terrible kit. It's just got a lot of detail, and is little fussy at points.

I look forward to hearing more about, and see your Tamiya Yamaha 250 in the near future. I love just about anything put out by Tamiya. I'm sure it will have no less detail compared to the MPC bikes. But go together a lot easier.

Thanks,,I havent done the Mini 70 Trail bike  yet,,the Tamiya 1/6 MX'r  is going to be really cool,,I may post a build thread,,but it would take up alot of storage space in the forum,,so Ill see how it goes. The Rupp  bike would be fun to do also.  I have  almost every Tamiya  off road bike kit  and many street bikes as well  built +unbuilt.

Nicely done model!

You also use unusual lighting technique for your photos. I'm not saying it is bad (the pictures are clear and in focus), bit it is just different.

Thanks  so much,,yea I experimented with different angles of lights  to get shadows{no pun intended "Honda Shadow"  lol} behind the bike,,kind of neat effect. Thanks for looking

Mr. Shipman, you indicated you've got almost every Tamiya off road and many of their street bike kits. Do you have Tamiya's version the Honda CB-750? And have you built it? And is so, how does it compare, other than scale, to MPC kit? I've read that is suppose to be a much nicer kit than the MPC.

I believe Tamyia has also offered a Honda Trail 70 in 1/6th scale too. It would be interesting to see how that compares to the MPC version too.

Well I dont have EVERY one they put out,,quite a few though. Heres the CB 750 tamiya  1/12th,,I dont have the large scale 750{that would be nice!} The CB 750 tamiya went together without any hassles or modifications for fit.     IMO  Tamiya makes the most accurate kits for the $$$.  Meaning  ,not having to clean flash,,filing mating surfaces, alignment of assemblys,,ect,,ect. Ill toss a few more tamiyas Ive done in here  just for the fun of it. IMG_1679_zps83e70a90.jpgIMG_1833_zpsf7976438.jpg6bb73989-a23e-4707-96bd-b768917ced50_zpsIMG_4035_zps0ae58858.jpg
