Don't think I've used red tube glue, but I haven't used any tube glue since I was 16 (1962). I use Model Master Liquid Cement which glues as well as tube glues and is much easier to use. It also has a long life, better than tube glue, IMO. (the link is just you see the product I'm talking about)

I use maybe a half dozen different glues. Depending on the need. Sometimes the good old Testors glue in the tube is still the best one to use. But, I use Testors Model Master liquid glue more than any other.

One should have a full arsenal of glues to use when it comes to building! I use everything from white glue, 5 Min epoxies, liquid glues, etc. It all comes down to what will work best for me in any one part of the build I'm doing.

For instance, I don't ever use solvent type glues when it comes to putting things on the body, especially after it's painted. White glue, epoxies, and sometimes clear acrylic paint are best for that.

When it comes to structural things within the body/chassis such as when I'm doing working features and such, then I'll get out the "regular" glue (liquid or the semi-runny stuff), CA glues, and in some cases even JB Weld if I need a super strong hold for something.

It'll all depend on what you're after. In my world of building, one size does not fit all. ;)

TAMIYA CEMENT THIN EXTRA SOTTILE 40ml TA87038 4happywheels modellismo ...

this is my 'go-to' adhesive, but i also use Smith Industries 5 minute & 30 minute epoxy, Extreme Power acc adhesive, & Ranger Glossy Accents for clear parts - all from Hobby Lobby.

like has been said, one size does not fit all.

just came back from  H.L. and ended up buying  2 tubes of  testors  glue in red tube  2 came in a package so it was a good deal

If you are constantly running out of the red-tube Testors glue then you are either building lots of models (dozen a month) or you are painting the entire model with glue.  Most kit instructions state to use glue sparingly. ;)

i`m probably NOT a good  model builder  -

practice can make you better or you can just have a good time doing things the way that makes you happy and that's what's really important in life. you asked a good question and got some solid advice, and made your own decision.
