XJ6 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Finished my Boat, wanting to share pics This was a 3 month project very happy with the way it turned out All comments are welcome ?
XJ6 Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 Cool!! Plank on frame build?yes and it was a challenge to do, thanks for the comment ?
bismarck Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I've always liked the lines of those boats, but never attempted to do a plank on frame build. I don't think I would know where to start supply wise. I do wood working in my spare time and have lots of the bigger power tools, but don't you need a lot of smaller hand tools to build plank on frame?

XJ6 Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 Nice!was it a Billings Boats kit? The kit is from Midwest Products the instructions were rather easy to follow comes with a blue print to construct
XJ6 Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) All you need now are some scale lobsters... How about these ? They came with the boat I painted them red with black over spray for the realistic look Edited August 4, 2016 by XJ6
XJ6 Posted August 4, 2016 Author Posted August 4, 2016 Looks great! What scale is it?not sure of the scale but will look it up and try to answer ?
High octane Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Very nice build on that lobster boat. Many years ago I had started a "plank on frame" Chris Craft '55 Cobra and it would be nice if I finished it someday. Maybe???

bismarck Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) Thanks ? My next project is a Chris craft ?? I've seen one of these fitted with R/C on a local pond, and they are beautiful when finished!!! All the natural wood finish is not something typically seen on the water anymore, and is a real eye catcher. I hope you post pic's of it when you finish it. I think you'll do a great job on it. Tom Geiger Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Nice work. I've been watching those Dumas boats, some of them... and I believe that Chris Craft are 1/24 scale.
