51 fleetline gasser

heres my 51 fleetline gasser. Right now it will be gettinng 55 nomad i beam with 29 ford rear spring. The inside will consist of a roll bar and 2 bucket seats from amt 55 nomad. Motor is going to be the six with triple carbs or blower and dual exhaust. Whatcha think. Got the six almost done. Made my own intake with a piece of flat styren. Carbs are i guess from amts 53 f100. Exhaust is a 4 cylinder header whit he bends cut away from the plate.

thanks may change the rear ones to the 57 amt chevy drag rims but maybe not. Well see. Dont be afraid to add your comment i always enjoy what people think or ideas they have for it.

thanks, I will bend it around my school work. Right now i have to build a marble run so break time for this one but maybe tomorrow i can work on it. Anyone have ideas for it or comments. Any ideas on the paint?

Looks great, rodder. The stance looks a little low in the rear, but a good set of tall slicks should help that. The engine is awesome. I can't wait to see more of this one.

UPDATE

Well i got most of the front suspension done. All i need to do is sand it down and paint it. I painted the interior panels. Also i got all of the other suspension parts painted. The whitewalls were painted today. Well what do you think now.

update time. Well i got the frame done on it. I got my whitewalls painted and put the wheels tyres on the axel, got the steels for the rear painted, motor put in, and interior fitted to glass and primed the body, also started the trailer. What you guys think of it?

I had a stock straight 6 in a 57Chevy, and even stock, that thing was mean! I was goin 85 one night, dropped it down into second gear, punched it and got another 5mph before goin back up ta third! With that monster 6 you built, the torque will rip that front end right off !

Shocks? was that i put some radius rods or torsion bars on the axel form the nomad kit but i painted them black so they arent noticeable. I will get a pic of that for u too see. Glad u like it , cant wait to race yeah but with on rule u gota run a six also

I was afraid you were gonna say that! I did see one of the bars in the pic of the frame & engine. Hard to see it from the front. Can't wait to see yer colors. What truck did you go with for to pull this bad boy?

Florian there's one thing that I find a bit odd on yer gasser. Chevy used two leaf springs on their suspension (front & rear) instead of the wishbone. But since it's a gasser you could set the front suspension up just about any way you wanted. All in all in all it's shapen up real good.

Here's an old pic of my 36 pu before I tore it down and painted it met red w/ white pin stripes. It had a 283 punched out .060 and a 3 speed on the floor w/ white walls and spun aluminum discs. I wish I had kept it. It was beautiful after I got it done.

Haha well the pull truck is revells 41 chevy truck. Got the six so its a matching team. Gona probably go with special headers and a custom intake. Probably gona be in primer with dark red steels. Same color as on the steels on the car. Trailer needs some small axel moving modification and truck needs to be worked on but if i primer it it will save about one week. Whats gona pull yours? Was going to go with a mpc 33 chevy panel but it just came in and its a restoration project so not going to be done in 2 weeks. Posted my email on your thread so if you want many more pics of it just email me and i will send them. If u gona build a gasser let me know i will give u hints on it.

oh gramps, my dad got a 36 chevy truck too. Even with the spare!! Well its torn down and standing by my bedroom window. Scared the hell out of me the first night when i woke up in the middle of the night and saw part of the cab. On the suspension, in 51 chevy didnt have leafs in the front just a ifs. All i had to do was coth the ifs of and ad one crossmember. Do you have more pics of your truck? I would show my dad. We gona run a 235 with a old speed equip on it. Gona take us forever to finish it though and i got the 58 truck cant drive yet but will in 1 1/2 years. Now we might be getin a free 53 ford so either i will be buildin my models doin school work or workin on the cars. Always school first but the other things after or on weekends.

Sorry that's the only pic I have of it. I sure wish I had taken pics of it after it was done. Is your dads a 2 hinge or a 3 hinge door ? The 3 hinge was a more squared top. Man I loved the one I had. It was a blast to drive. It was my daily driver. Sounds like you and your dad have a lot of old stuff to work on. I wish I'd kept all the old cars and trucks I used to have.

You're right about the 51 havin A arms in front. I don't remember when they went from leafs to A's right off the top of my head.

Florian, you lucky dawg you! You gonna love the 235! I was 15 when my parents bought me my 57 Chevy 4door with that hard runnin 6. I didn't know squat about engines back then, learned a little bits along the way, just enuff to be dangerous! The valves was tappin' and I read up a bit bout tightening down the rocker arms.............and wound up burning up the valves. You shoulda seen me drivin it home from art school the day that 6 died --had to stop at every auto parts store on the way to pour STP down thru the carb just to keep it runnin. Got it in the driveway and it died. Put a 283 in it & wound up rear endin a New Yorker widdit and got married and................well, anyhow, ENJOY! you lucky dawg you!

Well i am not able to drive yet cause i am 14 but i will get a 58 chevby truck. Already got it and guess what it got a 235 too. when we bought it i said to may dad v8 power and power sterring. Then came the fatefull day when i saw my first old school rod and custom. Now straight axel leaf over spring in front, straight six with a triple nicson intake. yeah. Now we are getting a free 53 ford 2 door hardtop with a flathead. wow bad idea gettin into old cars well what can i say. GRAMPS the one my dad has is the one u had 2 hinged doors, second series truck with a spare tire mount in the fender. Robert if you are gonna make a towrig for yours too use something that would be period perfect ( 53 ford truck firedome hemi). Glad you guys like my build.

Hey Florian, congrats on scorin the 235 - with trips ! Jest don't be drivin toooo crazy Hey, didja ever check out the BIG BOYZ forum here? Check it out and look for the 'Old Hermit'. He seems to specialize in straight 6's. I think he only works in 1/8 scale, but he has some awesome builds as well.
