CAL Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) Italeri's Porsche 993 Turbo ad car. Edited July 19, 2008 by CAL
CAL Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 did a little work to fluff up this semi-curbside engine. The guys over at Italeri only put four lugs on the dist cap. I have a few more things but not much since the intercooler and AC condensor covers most of the engine compartment.
RJWood Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Its not looking like a simi-curbside engine anymore, Nice addition of detail. I'm gonna need to see more of this build. Corvette's and Porsche's are my favorites. Ron
CAL Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 Thanks for your kind words. I am just going to ad A/C lines, plug wires, a sending unit wire, Evergreen strip belts, and plumb the intercooler and call it good. there is still a big empty space under what you can see, but like I said before the intercooler covers most of the engine compartment. This is a 993 GT2 with a slightly larger intercooler, but you get the idea. It is more than what you get in a Tamiya 911 kit. Otherwise a survey of the rest of the kit looks pretty good, I was surpirsed to see the engine cover was actaully hinged already. The only other major sortcoming that I have come across so far is there is no backs to the front seats, but some sheet stock will take car of that. I will be posting more when I get the engine finished up: Paint the airbox, WP assm, wire it and final fit the intercooler.

CAL Posted June 26, 2008 Author Posted June 26, 2008 I know it's been a while but I have been working on it.
Nick F40 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 ehh, it's just another Porsche, WHOOP DEE DOO! haha this looks good so far, pretty sweet!
CAL Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) ehh, it's just another Porsche, WHOOP DEE DOO! haha this looks good so far, pretty sweet! Thanks, the way I see it, as if you couldn't tell, you can't have too many Porsches. I can see why these Italeri kits were not that popular though. . I like the kit overall, but It's gots some issues. Edited June 30, 2008 by CAL
CAL Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 (edited) What color is that going to be? Looks great. Porsche Wine. Thanks Edited July 6, 2008 by CAL
CAL Posted July 6, 2008 Author Posted July 6, 2008 FWIW the engine cover does open. You can't see much but... It is one of the best kit/plastic OOB hinges I have seen.
CAL Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 SAVE THE WHALES!! That was a big PCA campain to save the whale tails on the 911 because they were getting away from them and had that stupid little pop up thing. A Porsche should be a widebody and have a whale tail.

CAL Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) it's got an okay stance from the rear. The front seems high and the wheels a little small. Might look better raked down. opps. made a boo boo and had to do emergency surgery. Edited July 7, 2008 by CAL
CAL Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 (edited) raked down and different wheels, let's see it! Well the only other wheels I'd ever consider putting on a Porsche would be some BBSs. I am not quite sure how you can put different size tires on a AWD, anyway. Edited July 7, 2008 by CAL
Nick F40 Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I was going to suggest Fuchs but I guess that wouldn't work. 959 wheel? Paris Dakar wheel?
