I can see companies banning smoking on their property but how can they stop a person from smoking in their car that's on the property?  Isn't your car your private property?  And they demolished the smoking shacks too.  Sounds like the company went too far.

We have companies around here that do the same thing as people have to get in their cars and drive off the company property to smoke. Sure your car is private property, but it's on the company's property so all rules apply.

Ridiculous.  So the smokers have to take extra time to drive off the property.  I can see the company keeping track of those people and moving to the top of the layoff/firing list because took so much time off.

I quit smoking a year ago after starting after experiencing my first rocket attack in Vietnam in June 1969.  I've gained 25 pounds so far, but feel better.

Great news Jim !!!

We're not allowed to smoke in our apartments since they remodeled..... or around the common areas (mail box, parking lot, etc......)

Congratulations Jim! I think cigarettes are one of the most addicting things out there.

I started smoking when I turned 21..Drink, smoke, drink, smoke. Then it was just smoke. I quit when I met my second wife. By that time I was down to just a couple smokes a day.

One day about 6 years later, I was talking to my 95 year old grandfather, who quit on Christmas Eve when he was 60 (he started when he was 14 and he was a 2 packer) I asked him if the craving ever goes away. He said not completely, but they are not as strong and easily pushed aside after a second or two. He was right.

I know if I ever take one puff again, I will be back full force.

Stick with it.

I could quit smoking. But I'm not a quitter.

I was wondering when this would show up.

Sure, you're nor a quitter, but in the long run you might be a loser. :)

You're right about that because if I didn't quit smokin' when I did, I most likely be a "goner" by now.

Good luck as it's a tough road to travel, but it will be well worth your efforts.

Thanks a bunch. I have cut back considerably (roughly 8 cigs per day vs an entire pack), but haven't managed to completely quit yet.

It's not that bad Kevin.  Just get it in your head to quit.

I'm going to try, my friend, that's for sure. Thanks.

Come on Kevin.  You can handle it.  I smoked for 47 years and, with the assistance of the nicotine patches, gave it up.  it's been over a year now and I don't miss it at all.  Here's a tip for you to keep your hand to mouth busy.  Keep some celery sticks handy.

47 years of puffing, that's a scary thought. I think that I was smokin' for 'bout 21 years before I "kicked" the habit. I used the nicotine gum to help me quit, but will power was the main factor in giving it up. You can do it Kevin, believe me.

Oh yes, snacks of all sort will be in order, I realize that all too well.

I couldn't agree more. I believe the psychological aspect of the addiction, will be the hardest thing to deal with.

I began smoking when I was about 16, sneaking cigs like a lot of the rest of the kids.

By '69, I was up to at least a pack of unfiltered Camels or Luckys or Pall Mall a day. Always smoked significantly more during consumption of adult beverages too.

Started tapering off around 2000, was quit entirely by 2003.

Still love the smell of tobacco and have no patience whatsoever for "second hand smoke" nazzis.

And depending on whose figures you believe, the link between lung cancer and smoking may very well have been imaginary (though there are certainly other heath risks associated with the habit).

It would great if folks at NNL east could refrain from smoking in the long line outside before the show opens.  Always have and always will HATE the smell of second hand smoke.
