DonW Posted January 16, 2017 Posted January 16, 2017 I do miss cars with quarterlights. Great for demisting the windscreen, and perfect for us terrible smokers... Maybe that's why you don't get them anymore - so much for 'progress'.
peteski Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Quarterlights? So that is what vent-windows are called outside of US? Good to know.
DonW Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Well, I never knew they were vent-windows in the States! Also good to know!-Don.
blunc Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 the term I learned was "wing windows" although vent windows was used a lot also. you knew a car was top of the line when it had power quarterlights.
dw1603 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I can remember being quite impressed by German cars with a rotary control for the quarter light, very swish!
DonW Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Yes, that's one of the reasons I love 2002s!And I miss manual window winders, lighter (in weight at least), more precise and much safer than electric equivalents. Oh, healthier too - a bit of regular cardio vascular and upper body exercise!
Matt Bacon Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Close, I think, but no cigar this time!best,M.
