lorider Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Today I went to the Michaels here in Tempe, AZ to buy crimp tubes to use for fuel lines. While there one of the ladies I know there on a friendly basis gave me two coupons for 50% off one item from Sunday, May 25th through Saturday, May 31. The store is supposed to give everybody one when they buy something but I think you can also just ask for them. When I made my purchase they gave me another one. Now I've got three. The terms are limit one per customer per day. Michaels is the only place around here besides the LHS's that carry model kits, so I'm gonna get at least three for half price. I don't know if this all of the Michaels that are doing this, but if anybody wants a discount on model kits or anything kind of expensive craft-wise, it might be worth checking out.

Well, I can't speak for all of the other 49 States, but I do know they're doing it up here in MA, so I think it's safe to say they're doing it nationwide Can't wait to get me some new supplies and everything else at 50% off .
crispy Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Yes, it's nationwide. Don't forget, using the 50% on the likes of Badger airbrushes or a hobby compressor for those airbrushes. Just saying... LOL Chris
Daniel Peterson Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I've been to Michael's, and although they (at least the one in my area) seem to have a decent supply of some "okay" kits, the retail prices are insanely high. I'm spoiled by the likes of my local plastic pushers (Bradley's Car Collectibles, Model Man Lynn Mara, Fantastic Plastics and others) from whom I get kits at killer prices, but Michael's at 50% off puts their kits in that "gotta buy" zone. And if you're after a big ticket item there, it sure seems like a good plan to check out Michael's over the Memorial Day weekend. I also noticed the trickle of kits showing up at WalMarts has completely dried up. It sure doesn't bother me, cuz I got connections, but I don't know how kids buy, or even get the idea to buy, a plastic model kit anymore. Guess it's up to the established "modelistas" to market the hobby.

LOL Chris Some stores have those little compressors that are steep at the normal price, but with the coupon they're just right. I once bought a few Badger air brush kits for something like $27 out the door and sold them on evilBay for an easy $45 each. Not a bad return on my investment. Bob
RJWood Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) I went there today with my 50% off coupon and they had the new Jada kits. all 4, so I got the Corvette kit. It was listed at $16.99 but after giving the coupon it was $8.49 + .66 tax total $9.15 I don't think I would buy kits at Michaels if it werent for the coupon. I just counted and I have 32 Corvette kits plus the one I,m working on. Is that too many? Ron Edited May 23, 2008 by RJWood
