f1ford48 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 these models came with some of the worst wire wheels and tyres I have ever seen- If you know the car-you know what I mean .here are 2 cars that I adapted Polistil wire wheels to. it makes a big difference I think. the Coupe was repainted dark metallic blue with ''duplicolor''-[it was orange with disc wheels]
tedd60 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 I guess that Auto Art has some of the nicest 1/18th wire wheels, but almost ALL plastic wire wheels have spokes that look like carp. I am promising myself to learn to re-spoke wire wheels.2 more good looking models. You're on a real tear today!
modifier Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Nice job Frank I have the same model and like you I painted it
f1ford48 Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 nice shade of grey-makes it look more business-like.and the painted wheels as well. I remember these cars on the road when I was a kid and it seemed rare to see chrome wire wheels-they were usually painted and dirty. chrome wire wheels were more common to the XK-E [ in my memory]
