f1ford48 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 this started as a 1/18 Bburago xke Roadster. in British racing green.. Province Moulage supplied the conversion kit that included the resin dunlop wheels, the resin hard top, glass, vents and flares ,fuel filler cap, number plate lights, and some nice photo etch parts including wipers and the decals. so far- it is the only 1/18 conversion kit I have ever seen and probably long gone.the resulting racer was pretty nice.
tedd60 Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I just did a search for Province Moulage and went to their site. All I was able to find was 43 & 24 scale stuff. But then ... my French ain't all that good.Great looking car. Love the hard top.
tedd60 Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 Until I read this thread, I hadn't known that Cunningham raced Jags at all, such is the emphasis on his other cars. So I went looking to see what's up. It turns out he raced a coupe as well:http://www.jagweb.com/jaguarmodelclub/05-1337 VC WILFRIED/05-1337 VC WILFRIED.htmBeing the VERY unabashed American, I love the color scheme.T
f1ford48 Posted March 13, 2017 Author Posted March 13, 2017 Amazing guy-Briggs Cunningham- after starting his own car company I think he realized it was more reasonable to modify the xks -as racing was really his interest. I sure do wish a large scale model of the C4 or C4R were available. I believe they were Chrysler powererd.
tedd60 Posted March 13, 2017 Posted March 13, 2017 (edited) I do believe you're right. 331-cubic-inch Hemi's.About 20 years ago when I first started collecting 1/18 diecast, I had a chance to buy a couple cartons of Bburago models at about 2-3 bucks a piece. I was just learning about "good" diecast and "bad" diecast and turned up my nose at the deal. I never considered doing this type of mods to them. What a dope. Edited March 13, 2017 by tedd60
f1ford48 Posted March 14, 2017 Author Posted March 14, 2017 the 1/18 Bburagos have pretty good proportions. worth'' up rating'' for sure...I have an e-type coupe now that I want to change to'' Primrose'' color and put some nicer wire wheels on. that will be all it needs to make it look like a much more expensive car
