crazyjim Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Finally completed my first Cobra and used Pearl Ex antique copper on it. The interior is a custom blend of Testors brown, leather, orange, white, and mango. I added ignition wires, fuel line, and throttle linkage but it's so tight in the engine bay you can hardly even see it.
Hmann68 Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Gorgeous! Great colors! Especially in those outside shots. Very clean!
crazyjim Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks Christopher. Used to to an American Legion post near you for a Friday fish fry.
cobraman Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Ya baby ! You finished your Cobra. Looks great ! Going to build another ? Did you have a problem with the hood locks ?
crazyjim Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks Ray. Another one could be down the road if I'm able to latch on to another kit. I lost the hood locks so I punched some aluminum discs. They look a tad too big.
XJ6 Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 That is really Nice the color really stands out, Nice Work
cobraman Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 I always have trouble with those hood latches. They are so tiny. Plus they need to be trimmed of flash. I have sent many flying while trimming them. They don't fit that well in the holes provided. I always drill them out. I like your fix. Good looking Cobra all the same.
Dodge Driver Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Once again, I'm dazzled by your paint colors, Jim!What is Pearl Ex? The metallic effect is so even and perfectly in-scale.
Kit Basher Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 That looks fantastic. I especially like how the stripe blends in. The interior is good too. Nice job!
crazyjim Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks Frank. Pearl Ex are powders that I got online. You cab get them at Hobby Lobby or Michaels sometimes. Since it's powder, it must be mixed with a clear. I use HOK SG100 intercoat clear. The body was shoot with black primer, stripes laid out, shot with light gray primer, and than the Pearl Ex mixture shot over everything.
crazyjim Posted March 31, 2017 Author Posted March 31, 2017 Thanks Hugh and Rex. Painting technique was explained above, Hugh.
Jmaracing Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 Sharp looking cobra Jim. Well done. I really like that color. Nice job.
