Nice! Ollie's has been good to me too, I snagged three of this kit. One may be the Sox & Martin, but if your ragtop goes well I may copy your idea!

Did your have the horribly bad slicks in it too? I opened one up and saw those, looks like it's time to buy some of the AMT Part Pack slicks

Yeah Ollies was good to me too. I bought 2 kits. My plan was to build the convertible and a S&M car. I have those slicks too. I don't like them either.

I used the Goodyears from '37 Ford kit. I gave the tires a bit of wear then painted up the back side of the wheels in front silver to simulate disc brakes and the backs black as drum. I always liked the look of Cragar SS's

Also got the block together and mounted a few of the chrome bits on. Glued on the suspension and gave it a splash of flat black. The rear seems to be sitting a little high. I may have to adjust this as the kit comes together.

Got the body painted up today, foiled the rocker trim and used one of those Wally World $3 paint pens around the windshield

Painted up the grille and inserted the headlights

Then painted the white letters on the tires. It's a little messy I know but I'm not really sure of the best way of going about it other than just jumping in with a 0000 brush.

Just for kicks I wanted to see what the grille and hood looked like in place.

Looks good !  What color is that ?

Thanks Bob. DupliColor Perfect Match is the brand. It's GM's blue. I don't know the name. The label is on the lid and I used the lid as a prop while painting and the overspray covered it up.

Got the engine bay dressed up. I used a busted pair of ear buds for the heater hoses.

Interior was pretty straight forward. Not too much detail. Glossy black everywhere -brightened up the gauges, window cranks, ashtrays and wheel.

Should be just one ore day on the bench. I got a little overzealous with the floor wax and had to strip and redo the hood. I got a plan for the boot and it wont take too long.

Steve somebody may have asked this already but what are you using for a boot or an up top?  I really like the convertible look and you are doing a great job.

i used sheet styrene cut down to fit and covered it with vinyl. Its in the under glass section.

Thanks!
