Someone ran their car up a pole and poewr didn't come back till about 8:30 pst, I can't get anything but standard cable right now. Best Le Mans in a long time. Awesome, gripping, tense and heartbreaking. Not only LMP1 and for overall, GT1 had a good race going too. LMP2 was a Porsche blowout. and GT2 was a Ferrari blowout. A bunch of new records were set and just an incredible race overall. People will be talking about this one for a long time coming.
Nick F40 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Oh trust me Chris, I'm glad Risi won too!!! gregbbear said: A great race!!! As far as I am concerned, Le Mans always is. Peugeout tire strategy was questionable. The best Team won, but maybe not the best car? The end was worth getting up at 2am central to watch till the end. I am disappointed that the vettes didn't win 'cause Ron is my boy, plus Johnny O is Cool with a capital C. For me, it is so hard to not root for every team in one way or another. Some of the Peugeout drivers were darn well daring, I like McNish at audi too. It was good to see Jaques Villenueve doing something constructive and not self insulting (ie nascar). And yes, I am narrow minded. I watched nascar until in became cookie cutter ######. Which, despite the good racing, grand-am has become too. Overall, it is nice to know there are others out there.... Later, Greg ps- narrow minded or not, I didn't go to a nascar thread and insult them! EXACTLY, everyone thinks I'm narrow minded because the stuff I say and really, I don't give hoot but, EXACTLY, that statement you said was PERFECT for what I see in NANSCAR now and the reason I highly dislike and despise it. And as for the LeMans, now you know why I love it and love sports car racing, it is just that kind of racing and just on the edge. It's nice to see your input on the race. And as for the Grand Am comment, a HUGE fan, but I kinda agree, the DP's do look alike and such but no where near what a pitiful excuse for race cars as the NANSCAR cars are. At least they compete against each other with ACTUAL manufacture engines and chassis and the body IS actually a little different on them. I love the GT class, I just love GT cars, that is some real racing, it's kinda like the Trans Am days, manufacturers COMPETING against each other and the cars ACTUALLY look like ones you can buy at a dealership and you can even buy the parts they use and run like the race cars. Hey, they bang into each other and have fun, that's real racing, and that's why I love it.

Hey, they bang into each other and have fun, that's real racing, and that's why I love it. I am sure you are. I would have rather seen a Porsche win, but if it was a going to be Ferrari I am glad it was Risi. as far as NASCAR goes, they are still using 40 year old technology and don't contribute anything back to the automotive industry. NASCAR has not come up with anything innovative that has trickled down to your modern street car. Most of that innovation has come from Formula One and sports car racing, both of which have been around a lot longer. Needless to say those racing series do serve a purpose beyond the race track. Compared to NASCAR, which has become a pure marketing enterprise that serves itself. There is nothing innovative, creative, or interesting about the cars. They are not techno-savvy, cutting edge or progressive. As far as I am concerned they are out of date 3500-pound death traps that you couldn’t pay me enough to get into and race. But like I have said before on a number of occations asking some one to explain it (NASCAR) I will listen. Interstingly, not a soul has taken me up on the offer.

Yeah, Fuel Injection?????? and speaking of F1 and sports car innovation, the seats they use in NANSCARS are carbon fibre and are $23,000??!??!?! Last time I checked you couldn't get a Camry with a carburetted Tundra 4.7 V8 with a full cage interior and a carbon fibre splitter and wing, again from F1 and sports car racing, and Goodyear slicks. Your daring mate! offers??? nope? no money in the world huh......ME NEITHER!
