Jim Whalen Posted November 9, 2017 Author Posted November 9, 2017 Thanks for the comments everyone. I had the idea for this paint scheme about three years ago but I'm sure you all know how life gets in the way of model building. I'm pleased to finally have it finished. Since you can't really see the interior on the completed build, here's a picture of it before final assembly.
DeeCee Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Nice build, GREAT paint and very cleanly detailed.
58 Impala Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Nice build. Love the flame paint job. Did you hand cut the flames or did you use a stencil?
crazyjim Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Beautiful, SHINY paint, and nice details. What kind of paint(s) did you use? Source of the flame stencil?
Jantrix Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 That's about as good as it gets. Marvelous work.

What kind of paint(s) did you use? Source of the flame stencil? Thanks for the comments guys! I used a Lazy Modeller mask - they do them for quite a few cars and are based in Australia. The paint is Alclad ALC701 Bright Silver Candy base shot straight onto the plastic. I then used Alclad ALC708 Candy Emerald Green before clearing it with Zero Diamond Finish 2 pack. I then applied the mask, misted a little bit of Candy Emerald Green before applying a coat of Bright Silver Candy base to preserve the candy effect for the flames. I then used Alclad ALC706 Candy Golden yellow on the front part of the flames and then faded in the AL704 Candy Orange pointing the airbrush towards the rear of the model. Another application of the Zero Diamond Finish 2 pack was applied before the usual polish cloth, compounds and wax treatment commenced.
bill lanfear Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Excellent led sled! Love the flames and color combo!
El Caballo Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Hm, I was considering using low tack tape and free-handing flames for one of my models. I'll check my local store for some of this.
PARTSMARTY Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 Wow what a stunning car! The paint work is flawless! Love the colors you chose!x2
cobramike Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Wow what a beautiful car, those flames are fantastic. Sooo jealous that I can't make flames like them. Nothing but praise for your talent.
