Cpt Tuttle Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Doing this for a christmas buildoff I run on a Swedish forum. It has to be done between christmas eve and new years eve. Fresh from the box. I had a spraycan with a color changing paint and it turned out great. Until it started to etch the plastic. So it went into the bath and I think I will do it flat black since the body is not in so great condition anymore and I don't have the time to sand it smooth again... Finally found the right wheels and tires in the parts bin.
cobramike Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 The Craiger wheels are perfect. Flat black? Surely you have some red to throw on this? Perhaps a red over flat black? Etched the plastic...What is the paint that did that? Name of it so that we all DON'T use it to.
cobraman Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Looks like you could use a second coat.......................on your fingers ! I will be watching how your T Bird goes.
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 It's sold in Sweden by an automobile parts chain called "Biltema" so I don't think there is a huge risk that anyone else here will use it....however I used it on an El Camino before, and that worked well... Quick transformation into a flat black beater. :P
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 26, 2017 Author Posted December 26, 2017 Well, since I am going for kind of a rough look, nobody would have ordered an expensive replacement windshield as long as it passes safety inspection. Red wheel wells.... And a white interior, about as filthy as they use to be in cars of this kind...
Cpt Tuttle Posted December 27, 2017 Author Posted December 27, 2017 Duct taped the torn seatback on the drivers seat, an american flag blanket covering the worn back seat and the beer carton ready for the weekend.... (Note that I do NOT think that this is a respectful way to use the flag, it does NOT represent my opinions in any way, it's just the way it will probably look in real world way too many times, keep in mind that we're talking about stupid swedish idiots now....so I hope that this doesn't offend anyone since it is a representation of how it could look in a real car....but if it does I will remove my post, so just tell me) Red rear axle is of course a good match to the red front suspension and wheel wells...
Sledsel Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Back in the days where there were local hot rods, a lot of guys painted the rear differential white. Why? dunno, but looked cool. More often you would see the confederate flag, but yours looks cool. Not offended, it is a model for Pete's sake.
