Mj-Styro Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hey Guys! whats up!! busy week or two here............. I finally started the restoration work on the Org issue 62 Impala Conv't last night and i can say i am pleased with it so far........ Once i looked the body over very carefully i then decided on how i was gona go about it,but did notice that the cowl area was gona need to be re-placed mainly because i wanted to keep the glass and interior tub tab's in place and the old one being a glue bomb i opt'ed for cuting it out....... The donor body was double checked and decided it would be to much to restore it.......... Awhile back i did a rear section replace and decided thats the way i wanna go with this one as well (the lower Q/panels were in nice shape on the Org body to start with) and the other would take some work and this way i could keep the lower rocker trim intack.......... Hard to see in the pictures but the rear deck vent was also wasted on the body i wanted to fix....... Body on the left is the donor As you can see it has a good platform, also notice the putty work on the tulip panel area and why i am replacing the rear deck vent. Lotta glue here! LOL new cowl vent installed,i used proweld and some scrap buggers (melted fine pieces of plastic from cutting) then molded it into the crack and then sorta smoothed out........... Rear section is almost in place just some minor trim and fit.........and its lookin good!!!!
Mj-Styro Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 Hey i have some color on the body!! Still have the windshield frame to repair but its minor..........all in all i am pleased with the outcome! Just not the color i wanted to use but it will work! Everything is pretty much ready for details...... Let me know what ya think
