bubbaman Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 ok these dashboards and seats and all the T I N Y stuff on a model - what do you guy`s use to get that beautiful intricate work done - jewlers glasses ??
Xingu Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I use an Optivisor with 2X glass and the optional LED lights. A bit expensive, but much easier to use than the cheap 2.5X glasses that I tried previously.
peteski Posted February 27, 2018 Posted February 27, 2018 I have a work lamp with a magnifier, I use Optivisor, and I also have a stereoscopic microscope. Couldn't do it without it. And for something really crazy check out WIllard Wigan stuff (Google it). Here is a sample (yes, in the eye of a sawing needle):
cowboy rich Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 That is crazy small even with the optics I don' see me doing it..wow
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 Just a basic, table style, lighted magnifier. Steve
Rider Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Stacked glasses, 3.5 and 4.0 strengths work for me. I should invest in a proper magnavisor.
landman Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 The eye doctor made me some fixed focus glasses that are a bit closer than readers, 12 inches instead of 16. They work well.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 (edited) I use a lot of light...the equivalent of four 100-watt bulbs over the bench, and a well-lighted room behind me. Edited October 16, 2018 by Ace-Garageguy

The magnification lettering has rubbed off mine, but the granny-glasses version lets me focus on parts around 6 inches from my nose, and the wider larger lens one lets me see things clearly 8 inches away. Worn in combination, which is not uncomfortable at all, I can focus 4 inches away. Allows me to work on things like multi-piece fuel pumps.
DinwiddieCountry Posted October 20, 2018 Posted October 20, 2018 That's really cool, but I can't do it that small. Heck, my eyes hurt if I'm just sitting at the bench long enough
PeeBee Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I take my glasses off to see close-up. Although, I do have to squint more these days!

Ramfins59 Posted November 6, 2018 Posted November 6, 2018 I use an Optivisor. I have one incandescent lamp on each side, and also tube lighting from above.
