Mooneyzs Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 Clay... I absolutely love the progress you have made so far on this. What you have done so far looks so good and I love the addition of the weathering on the block. To me it adds character to it for sure. Love your work. What you have post had definitely given me some inspiration for mine. John... I think it would be so cool if one day we could have these all sitting next to one another and get pics of them together. Can't wait until you get yours going.
GoatGuy Posted May 11, 2018 Posted May 11, 2018 What a great idea and great results so far. I agree, the front rims and tires you guys are using look really good. Can't wait to see more.
Codi Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Beautiful start too Clay. I see what John has done here, he's giving you and Chris a head start as we all know how freaky fast he is when it comes to building. Just when you have it painted and ready to assemble I would suspect John will start his. Like others, I'm jealous I couldn't have been part of this effort but you'd have to give me a years head start. teehee. cheers, tim

He seemed a pretty down to earth fella. I was a good experience. Looking forward to seeing all this fine work guys. EDIT - Oh and Don drives the sweetest little Ardun powered Model T roadster ('27 I think) you ever saw. Edited May 18, 2018 by Jantrix
Chris in Berwyn Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 That pic John posted of Garlits doing the burnout is really something - looks like he is on the return road! I don’t think they let you do that these days - thankfully!!
Art Laski Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 Man, you guys are going to kill it. Like Tim said, who wouldn't want to watch this?!!! Might be some lessons to learn here...
Metalmad Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Wow this is going to be good and It reminds me of the biker build offs. To bad that this build off isn't being filmed it would really be great for the model building community.
Mooneyzs Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Hello Fellas.... Got a small update. I know it isn't much but its some progress. Having fun with this build so far. I had dug thru my aftermarket box of items to see if there was anything that I could use on this build and I found a couple of items to Spice up this build : I was able to get the chassis mold lines cleaned up as well as getting the block glued together. Got a few items in primer and now I need to clean some of it some more after what the primer exposed: Mocked it up just for giggles:
John Teresi Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Chris......looking good......your moving right along with this build
Lee Yoder Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Looks good Chris! Did I spy a Ferrari F1 car in the background? Later, Lee
Mooneyzs Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 (edited) John... Thanks brother, this forum finally let me post it this morning. I tried posting it multiple times yesterday only to give me a error every time . I making a little headway, Not as much as I would of liked but maybe I can get a few more things done after some chores this morning. Lee... Thanks, yes sir you are not seeing things. There is a Ferrari F1 car in the back ground. I had started on it shortly after our Desert Scale Classic show here. I needed something that was going to be just a fun out of the box build to help my sanity and try to build something quick... Edited May 20, 2018 by Mooneyzs

Jimmy Wilson Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Really excited about this build by three of the best. I have a question for John. Are you just using half of the Herb Deeks wire wheels to make the dragster front wheels? Thanks !
