chrismooney Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Back in the day besides using Hearse as ambulances they would also convert Sedan Deliveries into cheep reliable Emergency ambulances. Thats what I was going for with this build Its a Jimmy Flintsone that I Picked up at the NNL East. I used a Lindburg 1953 Ford as the doner kit. A nice Build and the body was in great shape with very little clean up. Paint is Krylon Sweet Cream over Krylon Pumpkin Orange. Trim is Bare Metal Foil. I made the decals on my Epson inkjet with clear decal paper. they came out good as long as you print in all black or put the color one on white or the cream to allow the light to refract back and show the color. Let me know what you guys think.... The first two photos are the insperation. About the Decals. I made this for Fathers Day. I have a T Shirt that says Dads Rescue Service in old script and thought this would look great for this build. Slim Louis Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Wonderful, I love old ambulances and this one looks great!
FactoryStock54 Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 I LOVE IT!!!! Wonderful, "off-the-beaten-track" subject; great paint work and lettering. Very clean! It would be great to see more late-40s/early 50s hearses and ambulances.
Lyle Willits Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 This is really different. Great job. I like this a lot.
Eshaver Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 Chris, does Flintstone still offer this body? Id like to do a sedan delivery but with different markings and trade. Yuore model came out beautiful I remember these early wagons only too well as I had family in the medical fields. Ed Shaver
Raul_Perez Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Very clean build!! The paint and BMF work looks GREAT!! Thanks for sharing,
randx0 Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 great subject, would you recommend this conversion for a first time resin user?
chrismooney Posted July 31, 2008 Author Posted July 31, 2008 Thanks for the nice comments... Eshaver, The Jimmy Flintstone resin was good to work with... and Im shure this body is still available. Randxo, As for a first time resin.... It should be on the easy side... as with all resins I notice "Shrinkage" and some Parts fomr the kit need to be trimmed to fit.... I think the only thing that would make it better would be painted cream steel rims with center chrome caps Youe guys can always come down to www.scalefirehouse.com and see more of my builds and others... In the new MCM they cover last years contest at the site...
