ns4ever Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 found a youtube clip the other day from the 1980 great american truck race, and, looking through my stock of kits, found i had a racetruck. she didn't look much of a racer though, more like a stock pete with a big sleeper box, so decided to strip her out similar to the GATR rigs. some more work to do yet, such as cut off bumpers, stack and sponsorship decals, but you get the idea..... have a transporter for her to ride on as well, but need some inspiration for a similar pete to pull her to race meetings. any ideas??? http://www.flickr.com/photos/24420024@N04/...57605954989040/ cheers andy
bitner Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Hi Andy: That is cool. reminds me of the trucks racing in the beginning of Smokey and the Bandit II at Atlanta International Raceway. This is the only race truck I have so far.

Old Albion Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Andy, Great idea for a build. I like your paint work and decals. Do you make your own or are they from a kit? What engine are you putting in the Pete? May want to think about a big Detroit 2 stroke with turbo chargers as well as the standard supercharger. I was talking to a guy at the ATHS convention in Hutchinson Kansas in May who raced a Ford with a 6/71 Detroit. He said he prefered the Detroit because the 2 stroke is much more responsive and not as sluggish as the standard 4 stroke and its also a little lighter. (depending which engine you choose) So for racing it was ideal. Clayton, That Super Boss looks superb! Best Wishes Dave Bates
