Whoa! That turned out amazing. How many coats of clear do you have on there,?  Ssuper job on the polishing.

Lloyd, believe it or not, it is not clear coated.  I have a couple of reasons for that.  If you look in the build thread, it can be seen that I polished the body out to a pretty good shine.  I was worried that all of the compounds, polishes, etc. that I used to do that would adversely react to the clear.  I did wash the body with Dawn afterwards, but I was still worried.  Secondly, to the best of my knowledge, there are no aftermarkets decals for this thing.  I don't mean F430s but this exact livery.  I have read far too many times where the supposed neutral clear did in fact screw up some or all of the decals on someone's build.  Thirdly, I made the one placard on the fender.  I was worried that the decal bonder, (the stuff you spray on homemade decals), would maybe react with the clear.  And lastly, I cut those doggone decals so close to the image that there is very little carrier film to see.  I actually did want to clear the body and decals but was just too scared to do it!

To further my point, I was just over on FB in the Tamiya Model Magazine group and saw a beautiful Rothmans Porsche go down in flames due to Zero 2K clear totally screwing up ALL of the decals....

John ..I'm with you on that one. I usually don't clear over them when I only have one set. Those graphics on the real car are stickers. So they would have no clear on them.

I'm not in the habit of making excuses for any kind of product, BUT from what I can see on the images there, I don't imagine the guy did it the right way. It is absolutely necessary to do as recommended by ZP: "Please remember to apply a few mist coats over the decals before the wet coats." The reason why I think that this has not been done is that on the last image you can see the Rothmans blue color practically bleeding out of the panel lines. To me that looks like the guy applied way too much clear on the first go, maybe even added too much thinners...

No problem, Thomas, I think there were others who agree with you.  My main point was, if there is a way to screw up a very rare set of decals, I would be the one to find it...

LOL... I guess your result proves you made all the right moves in not using clear. And myself I'm not one to go for clear coat where it is not required either (see my Fairlady model).

Did I mention already that one of my current builds is the same model with the exact same decals (Tamiya '83 Porsche 956 with Rothmans livery)? And I will use 2k ZP clear on it... Hopefully I will be able to show a more positive result after that...
