This time I was looking for a car that is available as a model 1/25 from amt and Revell but wait available from these companies? No the base of the car in question is available as a kit from amt and Revell. The car that i'm looking for is a 1957 Meteor Rideau 500 from Canada. Meteor was a subsidiary of Ford in Canada. Meteor was a marque that was established in Canada in 1949 to provide Canadian  buyers a car that was cheaper that a regular Ford that was sold in Canada. 1961 the name Meteor was dropped due to the fact that the Meteor name was used by Mercury.

I got here late!! This one I knew. I saw a few of these running around the Detroit area when I was working in the area. I like the looks of the Meteor.

And a little correction on the backstory.  The Meteors were originally introduced to give Mercury dealers a Ford priced product.   You could still get Fords at a Ford dealer

This was an interesting one.  I didn't get it.  I knew it was obviously a Ford product but I never thought to look in Canada.  I looked in Australia, the UK, everywhere but Canada.  I just didn't know that Ford Canada had a different brand name.  Now I do!  Thanks for that piece of trivia!
