Regarding the AMT White Freightliner SD: that was the first tractor kit I ever purchased at 10 years old, lol! I gave it my best shot, and got it all the way to the point of getting the cab attached to the frame but it was so fragile it fell apart. Bent, but not broken, the next kit I tackled was the AMT California Hauler and it was a joy to build. Today, I'm still working on a "revenge build" of the SD, and it's going pretty well. Same problems as before, but now I know what I'm doing and I'm turning it into a solid build.

Beginner and AMT put together in the same sentence is kind of funny.  But big rig kits aren't really "beginner" friendly unless you get a snap on i guess.  But i would choose the international trans star because it's a brand new tooling from AMT, so less clean up etc.  AMT also has some more expensive big rig kits that are rebox of italeri kits which are fantastic.  Big rig kits are a lot more complex than your typical car kit so they take a lot more time to finish.  Here is two italeri kits and two moebius kits.  Even though those two kits say 1/24 scale they are much bigger than your typical 1/24 scale truck kit.  These kits are big boys.
