Here is where I'm at with my build. Every part has been repainted or detail painted. I’m probably going to change the body color also. Very nice kit and the company is eager to help if a part is missing or damaged.

Just looked this up on the 'net and all I can say is WOW!! ?

Terrific looking engine and this one is DEFINITELY high on my wish list! I'm in the middle of moving to a new house, so after the dust settles, I'm going to see about getting a subscription to this one.

Gotta get going more on that 1/8 '67 Shelby though..........haven't done a thing to it in quite some time as I've been just waaay too busy with getting the new place and then of course I'm taking literally a hobby shop with me! ?

I'm leaning towards Ivory or Black

The engine is pretty much finished. You will not see any of the screw holes or seams for the bell housing or trans once the belly pan is installed. Lots of detail painting & and a few injector pin marks to deal with on this engine But nothing too bad.

Your detail is incredibly accurate. Do you have available reference from an actual Gullwing?

Thank you for the compliment! I've saved as many pics from the net as I can of original cars and some restorations. I'll be painting the body a ivory color with polished rims and standard painted hubcaps. I'll post a pic of the one I'm modeling.

Nice site! Thanks. The real one I'm modeling mine after was sold . I pulled the pics from their site. I like the polished wheels with the red centers of the hub caps. It goes with the interior and breaks up the hub cap coloring some.

Skip, I received the next set of kits. The chassis and front suspension. I have not had time to work on it. Maybe this weekend. I just received an email last night that the next batch of kits were shipped also.

Looking forward to more — I didn’t realize this was a subscription kit. Your engine is so perfect that I hesitate to make an observation, but you’ll find that all the stickers should be yellow.

I believe they were a silver color and yellow with age. I have pics of them being silver then  some  pics where they have a yellow tint to the silver.

That’s a new one on me. Out of the 1.2 zillion photos I’ve amassed of 300 SL engines, never seen silver. Plus, I have a set of factory replacement stickers that are yellow.

You have me beat on the photos! LOL I have seen yellow ones as you say. But I have pics of silver also. These were already on the parts from the factory. I masked them & repainted the parts. I'm sure there are going to be many discrepancies with this kit. I'll  address what I can and see I guess. It's been a fun build so far. The next step is finishing the frame and stripping the 4 rims and polishing them. That should be fun.

I keep looking at this and I keep asking myself........."Should I or shouldn't I?" ?

The bigger problem for me is where to store all the boxes as they come in. My new place has a basement, but I'm loathe to put anything down there as I'm literally right next to the river (I can see it out the rear of the house).

Also Bruce, would you know how long the subscription runs for? I have the site bookmarked where the 300SL is sold but unless I missed it, I don't see where they tell you how long the subscribe run is for.

Ok, thanks Skip! That's the amount of time it took for me to get all the bits and pieces for the '67 Shelby. This is definitely at the forefront of any new long term subs I may want to get.  There's so much that can be done with this one to make it a standout!

Making some progress. Engine is mounted , starting on the chassis. Lots of metal & screws! It needs coaxing here and there. I found a few holes that were plugged up with paint. Nothing too bad. Next up is the suspension. I still have to bead blast the rims and polish them.

Some progress. I have all the parts to make a rolling chassis. Front & rear suspension installed. I have to walnut blast the 4 rims and polish them. Then I can install them. The next set of parts are on back order due to printing of the instructions I was told.

Man, that looks soooo good! Still eyeing this one (among others) and just might take the plunge sooner than later. Gotta find somewhere to put the boxes though as I know the 1/8 Shelby ended up taking up quite a bit of space to put everything till I get to it. ?

OK, call me crazy, but I did go ahead and spring for this one! Since I'm going to be limited for space as to where to stack all of those boxes (24 month subscription), I will build this as parts come in so I'm not overwhelmed.

The young lady told me that I should receive the first two issues by the middle of next month. I can set some space aside on my work table so that I can have room for my other ongoing WIP. Stay tuned.........

Sigh...........as if I didn't have ENOUGH to build already, but this is too nice to let slip out of my reach!
