MrObsessive Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Bruce just to let you know, I'm going to be saving all of the pages of this thread as it'll be great reference for me as time goes on in getting mine together. Thanks for sharing!
69H.O.Firebird Posted March 1, 2020 Author Posted March 1, 2020 That's great Bill! Unfortunately the shipments are on backorder still. I've put it away and will resume once I get some parts.
AAR Eagle Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Hey guys; I have also gotten involved with this model, but when I received the main body casting I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the paint [massive orange peel] and poor casting finish[ rear quarter panel teamwork is dismal, also roof and hood] and am looking for someone to rework and paint the silver metallic for me, any help or suggestions appreciated, I 'lost my touch' and am paint challenged at my age.
69H.O.Firebird Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Maybe a local body shop? I am repainting mine because I found a color that I prefer. I'll be using a automotive detail gun on mine.

69H.O.Firebird Posted June 30, 2020 Author Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Got some parts in that were on back order. I’ll be able to put the wheels on as soon as the molitow dries. I airbrushed them as I’m looking towards a chrome effect on the wheels. So far it’s going together well. I’m having paint mixed in the actual color of “White-Gray”. It’s an off white. I’ll be repainting the body in that color. See the last pic for what I’m trying to replicate. Edited June 30, 2020 by 69H.O.Firebird

I’m probably going to change the body color also. Very nice kit and the company is eager to help if a part is missing or damaged. Beautiful. A piece of jewelry
69H.O.Firebird Posted July 19, 2020 Author Posted July 19, 2020 The masking of these hubcaps has tested my patience. I just have a little touch up and then I’ll clear it. But it had to be done as I’m changing body color.
69H.O.Firebird Posted August 5, 2020 Author Posted August 5, 2020 Hit a milestone! It’s on 4 wheels. By far the hardest part was masking and painting the 4 hub caps. The wheels were airbrushed with molitow chrome. I’ll never do that again! I hope it’s all worth it , changing the body color. Next up will be the firewall and on to the interior. I have resin seats that will be covered in red glove leather. Also I’m lighting up the gages in the dash.
Bugatti Fan Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 (edited) There is a company in the UK named DeAgostini who market large scale kits like Eaglemoss in the US. I was tempted by the Jaguar E Type when it started to be released as a weekly parts purchase. Decided not to due to both the huge expense after buying the initial loss leader parts to tempt you into collecting, and the concern about what if the company suddenly stops trading and I am left with half a kit on my hands? If either company offers full kits to purchase, that would be the way to go, and use a credit card (not a debit card) to buy as it gives you protection to get your money back should things go badly wrong, and also you could spread the cost a bit if you want. Slimguy Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Noel, I was able to purchase the entire DAgostini Jaguar kit and received all subscriptions in 6 large boxes. Buying it outright saved me some money plus I received free shipping. i don't know if they are still offering that option but you might want to look into it.
MrObsessive Posted August 22, 2020 Posted August 22, 2020 I was wondering where this topic went! I started my sub to this a few months ago, but Eaglemoss has me on a standstill right now with backordered parts. Seems to me this virus might have set things back a bit. Either which way, I got as far as the complete frame and engine and I'm now waiting for the rest of the front suspension and rear. Bruce, VERY impressive work so far and as far as the paint issues, I notice on the hood there is a bit of orange peel in the clear coat. Not anything a rub out and polish job shouldn't be able to handle though. Down the road I'll start a thread on mine, but there's not much to show except for the bare chassis and engine. Meanwhile, it's given me some time to do more work on that 1/8 scale '67 Shelby which I DO have all the parts for, but the engine is WOEFULLY lacking in detail.

I have the Monogram one, but the D'Agostini one is soooo much nicer! In fact, there's a seller on eBay I follow that has all kinds of detail parts for that including a resin rear clip to turn the Monogram one into a convertible. Good stuff!
MrObsessive Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 Just a bit of a heads up for anyone that's building this. I spoke to someone from Eaglemoss the other day to ask about the latest shipments which I have yet to receive. She tells me that backorders should start shipping again around the 13th of next month. That's good news as I'm tired of looking at just the bare chassis and would like to make some more progress on it. What I should have asked her though is will the shipments include just the one that was missed, or the others that are also behind? I don't want any surprises in my bank account if all of sudden they want to charge for four months worth of parts!
kn51 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm doing my straight from the shipments. Engine almost done. Was finicky in a few parts. Latest issue I have is 5. It's been months since I've received anything. Yours looks incredible.
MrObsessive Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 As I mentioned above, hopefully I'll start getting parts again the middle of next month. I got the complete chassis done, it's the rest of the front suspension and the complete rear I'm waiting for to finish things up. At least I got a timeline when shipping should be. When I called there a couple weeks ago, the fellow I spoke to had NO timeline at all to tell me. Oh well.......I still have that 1/8 Shelby to keep me busy with more than enough work to be done on that one.
69H.O.Firebird Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 After 9 months of not receiving parts , I finally got some progress. Not much but the firewall is assembled and detailed. The washer bottle is a clear bottomless tank. I made a bottom and filled it 1/2 way with blue tinted epoxy to look like it’s got washer fluid in it. Almost all parts in this assembly were detail painted in one way or another.
doorsovdoon Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 This thing is a work of art! Amazing looking build, and that engine! ..ooph! Very nice!
