RodBurNeR Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Went to Nebraska City , Ne today with wife, kid and great uncle. I met up with Jason Kreuger there for a few minutes. Walked around looked, took some pics. I didn't feel like taking pics of everything there, lots of newer cars and muscle cars oh and hot rods with too much billet for my taste. Hope ya like what i thought was worth capturing. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...-jack-car-show/ Hosted on Fotki
mageckman Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 that '49 Plymouth is a good example of the "rat rod" infection that drives me nuts! could be a really cool car, but it's got all that goofy ###### stuck everywhere. probably looked better before those "improvements" were made. Dave The "rat rod" trend may be an infection, but, at least it doesn't have those stupid low profile tires or gigantic rims. Those drive me nuts!! awbcrazy, it looked like it was a pretty good car show. Looks like there were some pretty cool cars there. I went to the Rebel Run this weekend and it was fantastic as well. If I could figure out how to work my comp and download pics to this site, I'd post some of the ones that were there, along with the old school circle track racers.
RodBurNeR Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 I am glad you guys enjoyed the pics! I admit i took photos of that "rod" to show how stupid the things done to it looked. I am sorry, but i am not a rat rod guy. To me , there was ways to gain the parts missing from the door panels and shift lever for a lot less money and time than i cost to brainstorm and bend up good tools lol The rear bumper would be neat on an old pickup....
RodBurNeR Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 it looked like a nice show, any car show is usually worth going to! i appreciate cars and trucks of all kinds and i'm not looking to start any arguements with my "rat rod" opinions. there is soo much that could have been done to that car to improve it's looks without going down the "trinket" road. i can guarantee that it's a whole lot easier and more enjoyable to drive without that guitar beer tap hanging off the shifter. the womens bra on the horns is kinda funny, but it's pretty stupid too, like those little cryin kid things that seem to be popular among the lawn chair crowd. the wide whites are a saving grace and think how cool it would look with the front springs cut and some blocks in the rear to get that thing down closer to the pavement. the wood bumper? these cars have some of the coolest bumpers stock and they are used on alot of customs, maybe someone grabbed them already. they arent too hard to find though, i'm sitting on a few sets myself. when i see stuff like this it just makes me appreciate "stock" cars even more. Dave i know you weren't trying to start arguements, i forgot i took those pics though. i liked it was in primer, and had white walls and i do agree it could be lower! hehe! these days it's so hard to find a good deal on any old cars. i will be hunting next year for a project and i guarantee if it's missing parts or has bad parts....i will replace them with same or at least same age parts from other cars that compliment it. i don't know what i will end up with yet......i would like to get a 40s-50s body to build a mild kustom or a 30s-40s body and build a rod....i am really torn , but i will figure that out when i get something to play with

Dave Dave, I wasn't trying to argue or start an argument. I actually agree with you to a point. I'm not a big fan of "rat rods". A good traditional rod, yes, rat rods , no. I was just throwin my two cents in there about those god awful low profile tires and huge rims, that everyone seems to be putting on their rods nowadays. I apologize if it came across like I was trying to start something. Mageckman
