lowriderphil Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Currently measures 20.5' x 40' in 1/24 scale but I may take 10' off the length. It will hold this 55 chevy, a 59 caddy, and probably another tri 5 chevy. phil
outlaw035 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 good start phil...i wouldnt take anything off the size unless u really need to...u can always find something to fill that space....lol....neal
Eshaver Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 You got more patientce than me man. How long did you spend glueing all that wood in place? still, It looks real nice, dont forget to keep us builders posted! Ed Shaver
evilone Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 that looks sweet bro got any pics of the caddy i need some ideas for my halloween build
lowriderphil Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 got all the walls and support beams in place, I cut it down to 21'x25'. Its gonna get a coat of dirty brown paint in the afternoon. Eshaver- I printed out the wall layouts from autoCAD, took about an hour for all four walls evilone- the caddy is a 59 project that I lost interest in, gonna end up weathering it to resemble something thats been in the barn since the late 70s or so. I thought I had posted pics but I removed the vent windows, painted it pearl white and had some pegasus stepped sleeves and rims
evilone Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 it sucks that you lost interest in it but hay it should add some class to your garage in any condition after all its a caddy
lowriderphil Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 it sucks that you lost interest in it but hay it should add some class to your garage in any condition after all its a caddy yeah I lost the interior, I think I might have thrown it away when I clean off the bench one time
lowriderphil Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Barn has been rattle canned brown but looks to new, so eventually I'll dust it with some dirt to tone it down. I tried the salt tecnique on the trunk, I assume table salt is the prefered method as thats what I used. This is an engine I was messing around with from an old amt 64 impala, I might use it in there too. Somewhere under all that rust is chevy orange. Phil
Eshaver Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Phil, Im relly impressed with you're building techniques. Ive never seen the salt , its really real man! Ive got a Ford Van with rust on it that couldnt beat that with a stick! Please continue cause ites really a beautiful looking project. Ed Shaver
lowriderphil Posted October 7, 2008 Author Posted October 7, 2008 did some more weathering to the caddy, used the baking soda technique, what do you all think is it starting to look realistic? phil

Somewhere under all that rust is chevy orange. Phil i always thought chevy orange IS rust ? anyways, looking really good man. i like the way the barn looks, kind of a different aproach to things and i think you'll be able do to some really cool stuff with different lighting once its done the caddy is looking pretty accurate too but..... ...i cant believe those tires still hold air after 30 years
lowriderphil Posted October 8, 2008 Author Posted October 8, 2008 i always thought chevy orange IS rust ? anyways, looking really good man. i like the way the barn looks, kind of a different aproach to things and i think you'll be able do to some really cool stuff with different lighting once its done the caddy is looking pretty accurate too but..... ...i cant believe those tires still hold air after 30 years naw, once I build the base they'll be burried in the sand up to the bottom of the rims
