Falcon Ranchero Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Started the '66 Chevelle on Sunday, not realizing just how much school work I have to do this week. But it's on the work table comin' along. Engine is nearly assembled hoping to finish that today.
PatW Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Tracks on today, choice of rear, fully enclosed covered bed or open bed with sides. 2

PatW Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 A bit more today Carl. I haven't fixed the rear bed yet just added/painted a few bits behind the cab and painted the roof matte black, ready for a few scuffs. 4

chryslerjunkandstuff Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 I made the continental kit from my '58 Edsel Pacer a little better.. Recessed license plate on the front cover, and will be getting a foil cast Pacer emblem.. Rear cover entirely replaced with a B.F. Goodrich tire from a '57 Chrysler 300, and a steel wheel from who knows where.. Can the back cover be seen when it's on the car? No, not really.. Totally worth it.. 1

I can think of a ton of things I could do with that.
PatW Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Yes Bainford, in 1/24 it would be great. That's what I can't understand that 99 per cent Military is in 1/35!
Ulf Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Took a deep breath and traveled to the summer cottage and picked up the model car projects, the dirty laundry is always voluminously larger than the clean one on the trip there so they have been left behind but tonight I at least pack some into the shelf at home to work on during the winter. The real fault is the usual one, I lack sufficient discipline to be able to focus on one project at a time. The goal is to finish what has been started and then just focus on one and if necessary take it with me.
Keef Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Decided to try and build a box stock and resist the urge to change/modify everything. Got to the paint stage and that’s where everything went south. I have used this combination of paint before(same primer and paint) on at least two other projects and I had ZERO issues. But this time it was not meant to be. I ended up with TWO bodies that crazed for no apparent reason. Primer went on nice and smooth, dried for two days. Paint was nice and glossy and smooth when sprayed but after about 30 minutes it crazed. I swear it took all my willpower not to HULK out on both of these. 2

It’s pretty uniform, so tell everyone it’s tinted bedliner….I did my entire 1:1 Jeepster in it.? Edited November 12, 2024 by NOBLNG 1
NOBLNG Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Not technically model car work, but I replaced the original relief valve (40ish max) on my converted paint pressure tank that I use for casting resin parts with an adjustable one. It will now hold the 60psi needed.
catpack68 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I started working on the Hasagawa Type 2 VW pick up again. I wasn’t happy after I painted it so I decided to strip it and start over.I primed it a couple of days ago. I also stripped the paint off the fender on the C1 Models Beetle fender scooter. It was originally painted red, but I am going to paint it another color.I also painted the exhaust with Revell chrome spray. I’m hoping to get it painted soon? 2

Falcon Ranchero Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 Been working lately on Revell's 1960 Impala kit; must say it's goin' pretty good. Finished the chassis and interior yesterday; hoping to spray the car today. Been waiting as it has been rainy outside lately.
Lownslow Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Redoing my spray booth by sealing the wood in Kilz and adding a plexi door and making a consistent size filter box. 1 1
rattle can man Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Either coincidence or great minds. I just started back to work on the same VW kit, nearly twenty years after painting it.
Falcon Ranchero Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Started my ‘62 Catalina kit today; a tip for you guys; it turns out if you have the box art facing you while you’re building it motivates you to actually finish the build. Works for me every time. Edited December 8, 2024 by Falcon Ranchero 1

I started using primer/sealer over filler primer when needed, so far so good.
oldcarfan Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Today I went out to my shop, turned on the lights, sat down and looked around for a few minutes before sighing and going back into the house. I really need to get motivated. Maybe after New Years? 1

catpack68 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I was able to get some paint on the Hasagawa Type 2 VW pick up today. The top color is Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and the bottom color is Tamiya TS-81 Royal Light Gray. Going to clear it in a day or two.
Falcon Ranchero Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Got off to a flying start on that secondhand '66 Mustang I mentioned twice with photos in "what did you get today". Engine is completed, wheels and tires were selected and assembled, suspension parts all painted and ready to assemble, interior sprayed and also ready for assembling, and I sanded down the hood and body as it had been atrociously painted red with a brush. Unfortunately it's -15 celsius here so spraying the car may have to wait. Rear windsheild needs to be tended to because it has glue all over it so the plan is to sand it, spray a tinted clearcoat, and cover it with clear vinyl; did that for my '66 Shelby GT 350 as it was also secondhand and had gluey fingerprints on both front and rear windsheilds. The front windsheild on this '66 is in fact clear so that's good.
