junkyardjeff Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 While taking mine apart to restore I broke the body,I think its getting brittle so I was wondering if there were any other 57 wagon bodies made in resin for that chassis. If I do fix it I am going to glue the doors and tailgate shut to stiffen the body.
sfhess Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 I have one that I purchased years ago from Scale Equipment Limited, made for the original AMT 57 Bel air. Long out of production though.
Tom Geiger Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 You are good to glue those panels shut. This kit was fiddly and tough to get those pieces to work properly and look right anyway.
SfanGoch Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 MCW Finishes produces a resin '57 Nomad. The only issue is that it requires the '57 Chevy Bel Air Two-Door Sedan 2'n1 (85-4251) as a donor. I can't say if it will work with the old Nomad chassis.
junkyardjeff Posted February 7, 2020 Author Posted February 7, 2020 I tried to work on the body and more broke so its going to be used for parts, going to look for a new kit if I want a Nomad again.
espo Posted February 7, 2020 Posted February 7, 2020 If you should go with the MCW '57 Nomad you might as well crib all the parts you can from the donor kit. The Revell chassis would be a vast improvement over the old style chassis in the original Nomad kit.
junkyardjeff Posted February 8, 2020 Author Posted February 8, 2020 Its now parts, found a old MPC 2 door sedan body and using the frame and firewall from the Nomad kit to make it look like a old race car put back on the street.
Greg Wann Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Perhaps you could consider a 57 airport limo. That might be an unusual project that would keep you out of trouble for awhile. Lol. Beautiful cars.
junkyardjeff Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 All the plastic from this model is now just too brittle,I dropped the frame and it broke so just small parts will be used from it and i really wanted to restore it but will have to look for a later release to build.
