What to thin/reduce HOK?

I bought a bottle of HOK from my LHS but they were out of both the thinner & reducer.

Can I use automotive lacquer to thin it?

Yes, but use the best automotive Lacquer thinner you can afford. Cheap crappy Parks stuff is only good for cleaning the airbrush. I use only Duracryl acrylic lacquer thinner for thinning HOK paint. It is available at automotive paint stores and will stay in suspension for long periods of time. Cheap lacquer thinner separates too quickly.

I have a quart of DuPont automotive lacquer thinner that I always use. I don't remember off the top of my head exactly what it's called.

another good lacquer thinner that I use is the pactra r/c stuff..I've never run into crazing or other issues while using it...I use the cheap stuff to clean the brush out since I have ruined a few bodies with it...

but yeah the pactra stuff is good, although I'm sure buying the real automotive stuff is cheaper...
