You interiors Dann are maybe the best I've ever seen.

• Added corner braces and hood pins
• Added reinforcement plates to the top of the strut towers
• Added an angle to the core support to close the gap behind the grill and to more closely resemble the 1:1

• toggle switches and heater control are bits of wire
• printed out photo of a rally stop watch faces and glued them in place

Thought about replacing the springs but I think paint detail will be sufficient.

Thanks Dann & David.  There is a ton of detail in a rally car interior that can be replicated but I won't be going all out. With full side glass and everything being shades of black it is very hard to see on the finished build as I found out on my Escort RS1800 build.

Rally cars compete in all types of conditions from snow and ice to rocks and sand and everything in between.  I decide to make some varying width and offset wheels for a possible gravel spec version build later. 

• Wheels on the far right are straight form the box
• the two sets on the left are my modified versions

 

I did some detailing on the wheels as well.  A hole can fool the eye to think there is a fastener there.  I may add fasteners later.

First off I'm admiring you build and all of the details. I often watch some of the Rally Racing on YouTube and the above picture is what is often seen. You mention the color White for the Chassis bits and one thing I have noticed is that most of the cars seem as if the underside is often painted the same color as the top. I wouldn't suggest doing it any different than what you're doing, but I just found that interesting.

Thanks David and Shay.  Being of uni-body construction - meaning there is no frame and the floor is an integral part of the chassis structure they are typically painted the same color as the body.  This car will be painted white.

Fantastic work JC. There is a similar one in 1:1 that is still campaigned at the local race track. For interest sake how did you make that black collector for the header?

Thanks Brandon.  The collector is heat shrink tubing, I bought an assortment of sizes at Home Depot.

Since I have most of my build strategy worked out I decided to jump into the gravel spec build.  On the right is the car I have been working on '77 Monte Carlo.  On the left is the '80 San Remo winner that will have a few different details.
